This Kobu- Shino chawan is by Sakai Kobu and is an exceptional example of his work. The nebula like decoration around the intentionally distorted tsu-tsu style chawan with undulating lip has a quality of three dimensions within the glaze. The rich and well controlled surface exhibits iron red, blue-grey, white and lavender tones within the glaze and it is obvious why Sakai is so highly regarded as a modern Mino potter by looking at this chawan...

Large haikaburi style mizusashi with areas of running green and blue-green ash running down the pot. This piece was made by veteran tea potter; Suzuki Hideo.

It may be of interest that this mizusashi bares a numbered tag attached to the base of the pot and indicates that this piece was in an exhibition.

This mizusashi is in excellent condition and has its original signed box. It should be noted, the lid is a very tight fit and can only be put on and taken off in one way...

Classical Iga vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (b.1934). Very large Karatsu style teabowl that was thrown and tataki paddled with texture into an oval form. There are various tones of ash and iron yellow flowing about the bowl, especially seen on the inside. The foot is tooled by hand, off the wheel, to go with the form of the bowl. The clay is a mixture of actual river clay and my stoneware clay to give it an earthy iron brown flavor.

Thick ash covers the ovoid form of this exquisite Chaire by Tsujimura Kai enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Nostalgic with its glaze effects and form immersed in tradition, yet full of the world today, contemporary, breathing, alive. To one side a crescent moon shaped kutsuki forms a rakish grin, inviting the viewer to join in the merriment. It is a masterpiece by this young artist.

Wonderful Oribe set of iron decorated plates by veteran potter, Yamaguchi Jusetsu. Vivid green Oribe glaze and whispy iron decoration make this set very usable across a wide variety of uses including tea ceremony. Yamaguchi's works are widely exhibited and published in Japan and abroad.

These plates are all in great condition and measure approximately 5.75" x .5" each and come with their original signed box.
