Fine Bizen sake set by Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property of Okayama (Bizen); Isezaki Mitsuru (b. 1934). Mitsuru is the brother of Living National Treasure, Ningen Kokuho, Isezaki Jun and uncle of Isezaki Koichiro. He is widely exhibited and published and has won the prestigious Kaneshige Toyo Prize for his work.

Porcelain Cube Bowl in the signature geometric style of Korean contemporary ceramic artist, Lee Min Kyu. The sides of the bowl seem to rise up straight, yet they flare outward ever so slightly. Large, Momoyama inspired, Shino chawan by the master potter and legendary personality; Tsukigata Nahiko (1923-2006). Though it is easy to spot some influences of his master, Arakawa Toyozo, this chawan is all Tsukigata Nahiko. The vivid iron slip shows, like a shadow, under the feldspar Shino glaze with rich areas of natural green glassy ash coating the surface and iron accents about the lip and showing through the surface...

Large classical Oni-Shino chawan by Kajiura Soshu (b. 1916). Showing a wide array of surface variations including a thick Shino together with large areas of an iron red glaze with the face of the bowl being covered in deposited ash from an intense wood firing. The interior has wonderful luminescent iron together with areas of Shino cells and and also has a ground down clamshell where something was stood inside the chawan during the firing, a common occurrence in this style of pottery. ...

Rare black and white inlay vase by Kyoto master potter, Kondo Yutaka. Measuring just shy of 25cm tall this vase is cloaked in a black textured surface with impressed, inlay decoration of stark and contrasting white across the surface...

Pair of richly glazed molded bottle vases by master potter, Kawai Takeichi. The taller leopard spotted tessha bottle is 9.2" x 5.9" and is in perfect condition. The smaller gosu blue with pale celadon like accents measures 7" x 4.4" and is also in perfect condition. Both of this vases come with their original signed boxes and both pieces are included in this single sale.

Elegant Irabo glazed chawan by Takatori legend, Miraku Kamei. This chawan has a Chinese influenced form while being made and glazed in the Takatori style. The flowing irabo ash glaze contrasts nicely against the reddish takatori fine clay.

This chawan is in excellent, unused condition, measures 5" x 2.8" and comes complete with its original, signed box.

Viscious ash and charring cling to the side of this spectacular Mizusashi by Konishi Heinai enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 7 inches (18 cm) tall, the same diameter and in fine condition.

If a chawan can be at the right place at the right time, than this is the one.
