This large and robust Shino chawan was made by one of master chadogu, tea pottery makers of Japan, Tamaoki Yasuo. Though unboxed this is a classic early chawan with a milky, translucent Shino glaze over some iron decoration on the face of the bowl. A stratified bloc of hollowed out Shigaraki clay by female pottery pioneer Koyama Kiyoko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shigaraki Shizen Yu Kaku Hanaire.
