Large bottle shaped vase by Cynthia Bringle (American, born 1939). In excellent condition. Signed "Bringle" on the bottom. 10 1/2" high. Artist and ceramicist Cynthia Bringle has lived and worked in Penland North Carolina, where she has her studio and gallery, since 1970. Her works are in the collections of the Asheville Art Museum, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Mint Museum in Charlotte NC, etc.

Group of 3 scraffito and brush decorated earthenware vessels by Dr. Lawrence Jordan (American, 1947-2007), circa 1984-1986. The largest (9.5" high) is marked L.Jordan 86. The second is marked L.Jor84. The third is unmarked. Dr. Lawrence Jordan was an important American studio potter and educator. This remarkable tea bowl is from the kilns of Yoshida Shuen (1940-1987)—an apprentice of Miwa Kyusetsu (1910-2012) who was awarded the status of Living National Treasure in 1983. It features a warm crackled glazing with a white translucent overcoat that beads in areas.

Hagi-yaki has a tradition stretching back over 400 years and is a high-fired stoneware type of pottery...

Traditional style chaire which was first glazed to the shoulder and then wood fired for a haikaburi effect. This chaire is in perfect condition with lid, bag and signed box and measures 7.5 x 6.8cm. The chaire mouth is not quite perfectly round and the lid fits very tightly.

Yamada Masakazu, born in 1951 is a traditional Mino craftsman and has been president of the Mino potters Association and specializes in wood fired Shino, Oribe and haiyu pottery.

Large Oribe style chawan thrown out of my iron based clay with thick hakeme slip applied around the body completed with a small but sturdy hand carved foot.

Small compact vase of irregular shape on a wide foot. Brown clay with white mineral and tiny pebble inclusions typical for Shigaraki and Iga ware, with green and white ash glaze over cross hatched pattern on the shoulder.
A small metal loop on the shoulder in the back to hang the vase from a beam in the tokonoma.

Bottom unglazed. Impressed seal of artist: Kozan.

One of a kind and absolutely rare: Very large Oni Shino Yohen Tsubo by Tsukigata Nahiko, enclosed in its originally signed double wooden box. A true masterpiece, 8,3 kg heavy, 28 cm high with a maximum circumference of 88 cm, imagine that.

Tsukigata Nahiko (1923-2006) actually needs no introduction. He was not only an accomplished ceramic artist, but also a musician, painter, calligrapher and sculptor...

Large jar or vase by Kirk Mangus (American, 1952-2013) free form with slip and incised decoration in the form of two fishes (one large, one small, the large fish going after the small of course). Signed "Mangus" and inscribed "xox" bottom. Probably from the late eighties but could be earlier. Roughly 9" high and 8" across. Kirk Mangus is an internationally recognized American artist and ceramicist.
