Jun was born in Osaka in 1951, graduating the Osaka City Industrial Institute (Metalworking) in 1969, upon which time he moved to the Kyoto Ceramics Research Facility...

A large sculpted image of the goddess of mercy Kannon cut from a solid slab of Iga clay by artist Kishimoto Kennin. The image is 12-1/2 inches (31.5 cm) tall and in perfect condition. The artists mark is engraved into the base of the back; there is no box. This artist has been working with clay since the 1950s, devouring styles along the way...

This elegant form vase is by porcelain master; Omori Shinobu. This vase measures 10.65” X 4” and is in excellent condition. The work of Omori Shinobu (1889-1962) is rare and even more so as this large vase comes complete with signed box and original personal bio. Omori, known for revitalizing the studio movement from his home in northern Japan, Ebetsu, Hokkaido, founded Hokuto-yaki (Northern Star Pottery) and even to this day a large pottery festival is held in his honor...

This robust and modernist Haku-yu ( white ash) glazed mizusashi is by Kakurezaki Ryuichi protégé; Ishii Takahiro. This mizusashi is a creative statement to say the least and measures 10.5” X 9.75” X 6” and comes complete with the original signed box. Note the idiosyncratic and creative calligraphy! This piece is in excellent condition, excepting the lid which was repaired with gold lacquer!

Ishii studied uder the tutelage of the reknown Bizen master, Kakurezaki Ryuichi...

Mashiko-ware yunomi (tea cup),new. This is a kata (mold) made yunomi, refered to in the local Mashiko dialect as a "mambo" yunomi. It has been a standard production item in Mashiko for many years. This cup features an "ame" (yellow - wheat gluten) glaze with an open medallion featuring a blue brushworked "sasa" bamboo leaf pattern. Volume = 6 oz/180ml. H.3.125"(8cm) X Dia.3.125"(8cm.) The town of Mashiko is located about 70 northwest of Tokyo, in Tochigi Prefecture...

A very serene Yuteki temmoku chawan by the famous Taniguchi Ryozo. Taniguchi, along with Miura Shurei, Kimura Moriyasu and Morikazu and Kamada Koji are famous proponents of the "oilspot" field.

This chawan is an excellent example of Taniguchi's work and masterful control of his glazes...

A very large (oburi) and powerful Shino chawan by Miyamura Yoshinobu very reminiscent of Hayashi Shotaro's works. Thick splashes of pure white Shino glaze punctuate the rusty red Aka-Shino glaze which covers the entire teabowl.

This chawan measures 5.4" X 4" and is in perfect condition and comes with it's signed box.

An excellent example of the great works being made today based on Momoyama era Mino-yaki...
