An amazing tea bowl by Baba Takashi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Bizen Yohen Ao (Blue) Chawan. The kiln effects are spectacular, covering the blackened Bizen clay with rivulets of flowing ash, shell shapes, blue and green ash, every angle creates a new view. The Size of Tolkkuri: 4 5/8" High x 2 3/8" Dia, 2 1/16" Bottom. The size of Each Sake Cup: 1 5/8" Dia x 1 13/16" High. This is very unusual and fine classy Japanese Kiyomizu Yaki Sake set by Sawamura Tosai 3 rd (1951-). It is made with fine quality Kiyomizu Yaki refine earthern body.
The wall thickness on Tokkuri is only 1/16" Thick less than 2 mm. So as Sake cup has only 1 mm thick on wall. Tokkuri as well as 2 sake cup has the hand written signature of Tosai in blue underglaze (sometsuke)...

Classical Iga vase by noted master Japanese potter; Kishimoto Kennin (b.1934). This vase, based on Momoyama and early Edo Iga archetypes, has varying hues of natural green ash about the top portion of the vase which also cascades down the side and forms wonderful bidoro rings around the mouth and shoulder. Though a thoroughly Iga pot, the clay body is actually wonderful Shigaraki clay with a healthy amount of feldspar inclusions...

This amazing piece, fresh from the kiln in April, is titled Mio, perhaps a play on the artists name, this kanji character meaning water which has pooled and collected. When looking at this piece, all the glaze has run down the body, filling the scalloping exfoliation with pools of lapiz blue. It is 27 x 30 x 58 cm (11 x 12 x 23 inches) and is in excellent condition.
