A vintage modernist sterling silver brooch by Hans Hansen, Denmark, most likely from the 1960s. We have not been able to find another example. Four layers of concentric ovals, slightly curling up at each end. Has some light oxidation between the layers for an interesting contrast.

A vintage modernist pendant by Jens Ib. Bluitgen, who was head of the design workshop of Georg Jensen from 1953-1961 before going out on his own. Made in Denmark. Three lightly hammered sterling curved shields with an oxidized dark patina suspended from a sterling heart shaped neck ring.

In the 1920s an archaeological find was made near an old farm in southern Sweden, a bronze key from the 9th century, the Viking era. It depicts a phantasy animal in a ring where the ends - traditional Celtic or Viking monster heads - are holding the key blade. The key is sometimes called the Key to Heaven, though Valhalla would be more suitable since Scandinavia at the time was not yet Christian. An amazing sterling silver modernist brooch with a bark like texture thought to be designed by Finnish jeweler Helky Juvonen and produced by N. Westerback in 1973.

A vintage modernist sterling silver pendant with 2 pink stones, (maybe rhodochrosite?) with the original chain in a brutalist design.

Pendant measures 2 1/4" long with the 2 bales and 7/8" across. Marked engla and 925S on the back of the pendant, and the mark IBH which may be for Illums Bolighus, a high end store in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The chain measures about 24" long and has a secure spring ring closure. It is marked 925S and IBH on the ring attaching it to the chain.

Elegant silver filigree brooch, a Norwegian solje. Less exuberant in style than most filigree solje brooches, without any enamel or gilt - just two shimmering roundels and the traditional chains holding the little pendant ornaments. Silver standard mark 830S and the pin hook with the three crowns of the Swedish hallmark – the brooch was made around 1900 when Sweden and Norway were united (the union was dissolved in 1905). Width "1 ½ / 3.7 and height "2/ 5.3 cm. Condition: fine.
