Oil on board painting of waves at a rocky coastline, unframed, 15 3/4" by 20", likely by a listed artist but unsigned. The work was executed sometime around 1950 I would surmise. Condition is good and this should fit nicely into an easy-to-find standard size 16" by 20" frame.

By listed Southern California artist BERTHA TOWNSEND COLER (1865-1948), a large, bulk group of unframed works that came from the liquidation of the contents of a Pacific Palisades home, the owners related to the artist. There were many, many works by the artist at the liquidation (see the framed oils elsewhere in my shop), a number of which I procured. E. Miller" and dated there '32. The actual first part of the signature is difficult to read, but on the stretcher in pencil is written "E. E. Miller"...

Old, antique oil on fine weave canvas laid on board painting of trees, distant small structures and a wooden footbridge in the foreground crossing a stream, 17 3/4" by 23 3/4" (23" by 29" as framed), apparently unsigned, and likely executed at the end of the 19th century. The rather naïve painting is very mellow and easy to live with; a classic antique American old landscape. The surface is evenly soiled, consistent with age, giving the painting that old patina...

Bold, likely American oil or acrylic on paper painting, with black, white and greenish-blue elements standing out against a red background, 19" by 23 1/2" (24" by 30" in shiny chrome metal type framing), signed in pencil at lower right with initials "M K". The contemporary work includes some identifiable forms, such as a five-pointed star at lower left, and one wonders if the black imagery at top is a human form including head, two breasts, legs, and feet...

Gouache painting of a gingerbread, Victorian house in Georgetown, Colorado, 12 1/2" by 10", 20 3/4" by 16 1/4" framed. The painting is signed at lower left "M H Brown" and dated there 57 or 59, and the word "Georgetown" identifies the setting. A modern framer's sticker on the backing from Georgetown, Colorado confirms the locale. Georgetown is an historic town filled with examples of Victorian architecture from the boom days of the 19th century in that part of the country...
