A c1795 continental miniature of a gent who looks somewhat disgruntled, possibly with the waistcoat with blue polka dots and the black jacket with pearl buttons that his wife picked out for him. The reverse of the painting has a "B" embroidered on pink silk fabric. Both the front and back have beveled glass. The diameter of the gilt metal case is 2".

This is a watercolor signed at lower right by an unrecognized artist named "Andre" or "Audre", 11 1/2" by 8 1/2" (17 1/2" by 14 1/4" as framed), the subject a young girl in pigtails viewed from behind, playing a grand piano. The overall colors are a cool mix of white, black, silvery gray, and light blue, with pink accenting in her bow. The mat and silvery frame pick up the colors nicely...

This is a fragment of a larger 18th century European religious painting. The painting is very well painted in oil on wood with a gesso layer and depicts Christ carrying the cross with a thorn crowned head. Dimensions: 36 cm x 14, 5 cm (14 1/8 in x 5 5/8 in). The wood and the painting has been professionally conserved to protect from further deterioration.

The artist is Benezit-listed, though biographical information seems to be scarce. He hailed from the Nancy region of western France, and seems to have made a trip to New York in 1887. Beautifully hand painted by an obviously skilled artist. Condition is excellent. The attractive framing is very heavy and apparently of a dense wood. These sorts of paintings though not old and antique are appealing and being of more recent origin are usually found in good condition...
