A vintage two-volume set of "The Letters of Robert Louis Stevenson", selected and edited by Sidney Colvin. The publisher is Metheun and Co., London, England 1900, and this set is the second edtition. Each has hand-cut pages, gilding on the top edge, gilt purple endpapers and cloth bindings with title stickers applied to the spines. Each is tightly bound and includes a tissue-covered plate of Stevenson and an extra spine sticker tipped in to the endpapers...

An excellent reference book signed by the author, Charles H. Carpenter, Jr. and published in 1982 by Dodd Meade. The jacket has a few tears ( see photos) however, this hardcover is in nice tight condition. A fine history of the Gorham Company (Providence, Rhode Island) and their silverware products. There are 295 b&w photographs, 8 color plates, 40 photographs of marks, photographs of 313 flatware patterns. 332pp.

An albumen photograph by Felis Bonfils (French 1829-1885) showing a group of dahabiya moored on Gezira Island with the original Kasr el Nil bridge over the Nile at Cairo showing in the background. The bridge opened in 1872. Dahabiya were boats for tourists cruising up the Nile to either Luxor or Aswan on trips lasting respectively about forty or fifty days. These were luxury tourist accommodation and the central experience of a tour of Egypt in the late 19th century...

The earliest known stromatolite fossils are between 3.5 - 2.75 billion years old in the Precambrian period. Sold together, an author-inscribed copy of the April 1965 edition of Pearl Buck's original 1931 masterpiece novel, THE GOOD EARTH, along with a typed letter from the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, dated September 28, 1971, signed by Buck. The letter and book, acquired together, are inscribed to a Mr. and Mrs. F. Allen Lucy of Pennsylvania. The book has a dust jacket which shows a little wear, but overall it is clean, and the letter is protected in a plastic sleeve. The inscription by Buck reads, "...
