A rare first edition of Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) book "A Tramp Abroad", as found in apparently scarce original leather covers rather than the more commonly seen cloth. The book has the ad after page 631 and "Moses" rather than "Titian's Moses" in the frontispiece, indicating an early state. I am not a book specialist so am pointing out characteristics that I see suggest rarity and early state...

Rare original handwritten letter, apparently dating to the year 1801, by the famous, iconic English-language historical novelist, playwright, poet, and judge SIR WALTER SCOTT (1771-1832). This is a folded sheet of ancient paper, measuring 8" by 5", two sides of which bear writing. When acquired it was in a frame with the engraved image of him, as autograph materials are often framed. The old tape has dried so they were moving around loose inside, and therefore I have photographed the two piec...

An excellent pictorial reference book specializing in Chinese tomb sculptures. There are about 70 high quality, full color photos with text both in Chinese and English. The pieces represented cover mostly the same periods as the Bower book on the Solomon Collection, namely the Han, Northern Wei, Northern Qi, and Tang Dynasties, but this book also goes a little further to cover the Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties as well. In our candid opinion, it's not enough of a reason to purchase an antique ...
