An early and rarely seen design not listed in Crows, Cranes and Camellias: The Natural World of Ohara Koson (Reigle Newland). The design is similar to K13.3 (Eagle on leafless tree) in the above catalog.
Chinese Han Dynasty bronze mirror, this larger size mirror has a band of Chinese writing around the face as well as a scallop design the whole mirror has a beautiful verdigris coloring and is in nice solid condition. This piece was bought in the Japan over 20 years ago size a little over 5 " d and has a nice weight

An exceptionally early work in ink and watercolor by the familiar New Mexico artist PERCY TSISETE SANDY ("KAI SA"), 1918-1974. Measurements are 6 1/2" by 4 1/4" (11 3/4" by 9" simply framed). The subject is a traditional eagle dancer of the Hopi people in full costume. The work is signed at lower right "KA-SAH", ("Red Moon"), apparently an early signature; on the old original remaining backing is written in pencil "purchased on Mother & Daddy's honeymoon 7/41"...
Shiko Munakata (1903 ~ 1975)
Date: April 10, 1959.
Seated Figure. Here titled by the artist, "At Columbus" (コランバスに於て). Also signed by the artist and dedicated in pencil in Japanese at the top right, "to Ms. Ryuko Sato".
Munakata's famous 1959 United States lecture tour took him through Ohio. On the tour, he was known to carve one-off woodblock prints on the spot at gatherings and present them to hosts or guests, as once described on the Antiques Roadshow...

Set of two (2) Chinese hardwood chairs, each with a beautifully carved back featuring a central solid carving within a clover-shape of high-class men and women wearing long-sleeved robes with a background of beautiful structures and plant life. Supporting the central carving at the base are three small children; One middle child crouches low whilst holding a scroll painting, with two children at his sides holding branches...
Chinese Bamboo Wall Hanger, 3 1/4" high 15" wide with slightly curved, with five(5) separate hooks pegged into the main bamboo piece. Black cloth rope wrapped around the both end, that is part of decoration. The condition is good, ready to hang with brass eye screws on the top.

The reverse side contains sutra writings in Burmese script, not yet translated...
