A large bronze sculpture of a slender young woman undressing rendered in a quote naturalistic manner. Brown patination. Inscribed and signed storage box and with Japanese Kanji name character on the back side of the base. H 42 cm. Showa around 1950´s to 60´s. Perfect condition. Pilgrim's hanten made of thin white cotton with many stamps of the sacred sites that are called "Shodo-shima Hachiju-Hachi-kasho Reijo (Shodo Island 88 holy places) located in Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku. The pilgrimage route was opened in late 17th century. The head band has stamps from Omine-san (Mt.Omine) in Nara prefecture. No sign of a place in the belly band. Japanese Tsugaru / Wakasa lacquer box and six coasters, early 20th century lacquer work with a speckled and metallic surface, an old Honshu speciality. The pattern is rhombic, the lid of the box gold or bronze coloured, the coasters a reddish brown. The back of the coasters is black and slightly structured. Diameter of coasters "3 ¼ / 9.5 cm and of box "5 / 12.5 cm. Condition: small loss of lacquer to the rim of the lid, otherwise fine.

3 pieces Japanese Kutani Earthenware Tea Set, Ca. 1940's, consisting of Tea Pot(8" high), Sugar with cover(7 1/4" high), Creamer(5 1/2" high) with beautiful floral branches and bird flying between enclosed panels with overglazed brick red and brilliant green color on the crazed glaze. Tea pot spout is glued small piece together around 1/2" area, handle of Sugar bowl is glued together. Marked on the bottom "Great Japan Kutani made".

A small bag made of ohyo fiber, one kind of elm. It is made in Asahikawa in Hokkaido. Warps and wefts are hand-plied. It has a wood carved decoration. In excellent condition with an original carton box. 20th century. 20.5cm x 10.5cm x 5cm

Japanese Meiji Copper or bronze on metal trinket or stash box, the lid with a formal geisha and a dog playing with a ball . The background there is mountains with pagodas the sides have flying birds with landscapes. The box has wear as seen in images. These are usually listed as bronze or copper but they are copper or bronze over a heavy metal base. Size almost 2.5" w by 1.75" d by 1" high

Futonji with two faces which are made of hand-spun cotton. One is katazome with chrysanthemum motif, dyed with bengala (red iron dioxide) and the other is checks dyed with vegetable indigo. Both sides have mending patches, breaks and holes. The first half of the 20th century. 144cm x 146cm

A set of four large scrolls depicting seasonal landscapes by Shirakura Niho enclosed in the original signed double wood box exhibited at the 1936 Nangain-Ten and published in the book Shirakura Niho (page 127 figures 102-107). Ink & Light color on Paper in fine silk mountings, they have been completely cleaned and restored to original perfect condition retaining the original cloth by Kitaoka Hyboido of Kyoto. Each scroll is 66 x 138.5 cm (26 x 54-1/2 inches)...

This extraordinary tea service was made in Japan with a large brush strokes of a swirled orange glaze decorated with a raised dragon motif handles, spouts and dragon head finials on the lids of the tea pot, creamer and sugar. Japanese mitsugiri-ban format vertical shin hanga woodblock print by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871 - 1945) depicting a female figure holding a lantern and walking through blossoms at night. This image is one of three variant designs titled “Spring Evening” published by Watanabe circa 1936. The title “Yayoi” is in black at the lower right and there is faint unreadable evidence of a red artist’s seal below it...

This mid 20th century carved ivory netsuke of a sumo wrestler is 2 ¼” high, 1 ¼” wide and 1” thick. It depicts a sumo wrestler dressed the traditional outfit staring straight ahead, ready to fight. The expression on his face is just great. The signature “Yoshido” is on his left foot. Aside of some color that has been rubbed off, it is in excellent condition.
