Kashigata have long been in use for making molded sweets in Japan and many other parts of the world (especially Asia and Northern Europe.) In Japan, shapes often include felicitous or auspicious themes for luck, long life, wealth, etc. This one, shaped as a wasabi root, is unusual and interesting.
Charming Ceramic Clay Garden Elephant. Elephant is green with blue variations on saddle sitting on Elephant's back. Saddle also has a floral design with cream lining and provides a flat top for ideal placement of garden plant. Beautifully aged, this elephant has a playful countenance, with trunk curled to one side and leaf like tale resting against back side.

This is a child's cap made by Uzbeks living in northern Afghanistan, probably in Sar-i-pul province. It is in excellent condition and dates to the mid 20th century. Diameter is 7" (17.8 cm) and the circumference is 20 1/4" (51.4 cm). Silk thread and metallic braid on cotton.
Good Karen basket waterproofed with natural tree lacquer, good condition- i.e. no damage. Circa 40 to 50 years- purchased in the 1990s in Mae Hong Song, along the Thai/Burmese border. I was back there recently and old baskets have all sold out. See last enlargement for reference.

It is 0.7 inch (1.7 cm) tall by 2.6 inches (6.7 cm) wide. It is 69.7 gram.
It is tarnished and has enamel cracks and small chips at the petals, missing enamels, oxidation, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Enigmatic green and red florals capped by ascending butterflies alternate with bird images in the cathedral-like windows on the side of this large vessel by Kyoto artist Yamazaki Koyo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The vase is 13-1/2 inches (34 cm) tall and in fine condition, dating circa 1950. Koyo (1890-1979) studied under Kiyomizu Rokubei VI, and was displayed consistently in many National and Local Exhibitions...
