Chirimen (crepe) silk kimono imprinted with Okinawa bingata design of irregular bands of flowers and plants of the seasons, in roundels, on waves, on vines etc. The outlines and basic forms are in brown, ochre and brown-red, while the flowers and leaves are colored in the red, yellow, green, and purple. Along the bottom is a band of stylized waves in red and brown.

From our World Handicrafts Collection (ex-Asia), a fine vintage Afghani tribal rug, wool on wool handmade construction, using exclusively natural pigments / mineral dyes. A modestly sized but very well-executed and elegant example that works well in either a rustic or formal decor.

Size and Condition: 57 inches long, 39 inches wide. There are some random expected thread pulls and light wear commensurate with age and use, but overall excellent condition.

Mask carved in a very hard wood from the root of the tree whose local name is "Jugardana". On the top of the mask, you can still see natural parts not modified by the sculptor. These masks are mainly used for decorative purposes. H 20 cm

A fine grouping of stylized creatures including a bird, a duck, a guinea hen, a bowl in crystal with gold aventurine. All of the pieces are in excellent condition, confirmed to me personally to be by Archimede Seguso by his son, Giampolo. Two retain their original Archimede Suguso Murano labels.

A beautiful camphor wood cabinet from China with fine carving and drawers/nice metal decor-fixtures. The main cabinet has 2 doors which slide inward along the sides for a computer, screen or TV etc. and the back side has a sliding wooden opening for electrical cables etc. Very nice condition, free standing, size: H. 178cm x W. 97 cm. x D. 66 cm. Japanese scroll painting in ink and colors on paper depicting a samurai in full armor, a fan in his hand and a banner on his back, standing above a kneeling geisha, a lengthy poem inscribed above. Wonderful quality eccentric work combining Zen painting approach with Otsu-e (folk art paintings from Otsu produced from the 17th century onwards), beautifully captured mood of the scene. Netsuke of an abstract bird. Superb stylish carving wonderfully capturing the essence of the creature. Beautiful clean piece carved out of ivory and horn. Signed MHB on inlaid solid gold plaque - Michael Henry Birch (1926-2008) was one of the best 20th century netsuke carvers. Length 3.22 inches.

Decorative Japanese summer kake fukusa (gift cover) with a pair of carps(koi) in the water. Circa mid Showa, 1960-1980. Dimensions: 22" x 19 3/4" (58.5cm x 50.2cm)

Silk Japanese obi, tapestry weave with a considerable use of genuine gold (Rinpa style as indicated) and some silver (it is either treated or some other metal). This obi is fukuro obi; the design on one side continues 9 feet from one end, 46 inches in a simpler geometric design before it ends with 18 1/4 inches long complicated design at the other end. The reverse side is a plain black satin silk without any design. Total measurements: 12 1/4" wide x 14'4" long.

Wooden netsuke of thoughtful ape (looks like orangutan) by contemporary New Zealand netsuke carver Doug Marsden (b. 1958). Superb quality carving to the last detail, extraordinary face with horn inlaid pupils, perfectly carved hands and feet with well defined joints and nails, beautifully textured coat, great staining. Height 2 inches.

Vintage anonymous oil painting on canvas, Showa period, 20th century, Japan, 27 x 22 x 2 cm (10.62 x 8.66 x 0.78in)...

A remarkable bowl by Bengt Berglund. The interior is a shiny intense cobalt blue while the exterior is off white and black. The bowl measures 3 1/2" tall and is 7" in diameter. On the underside is stamped Gustavsberg and the artist's initials BB. Mint condition. SHIPPING INCLUDED.

This Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates is called "Waiting for Christmas". It was designed by Kaj Lange. It is the continuation of the story told by the three previous plates.
