Chinese porcelain “birthday” bowl decorated in famille rose enamels and gilt highlights with four round medallions each containing one of the four characters “wan shou fu jiang” (wishes for a long life without end) set against a turquoise ground densely covered with scrolling lotus. Vase from the "Finlandia" series by Timo Sarpaneva for Iittala, Finland, 1965-69. Of tree trunk shape, the glass a very light green, watery shade.The irregular surface was created by the charred wooden moulds used for the Finlandia collection. The vase still retains its Iittala label and the polished base is signed Timo Sarpaneva 7362. Height "6/15 cm, diameter "4/ 10,2 cm. Pilgrim's hanten made of thin white cotton with many stamps of the sacred sites that are called "Shodo-shima Hachiju-Hachi-kasho Reijo (Shodo Island 88 holy places) located in Kagawa prefecture in Shikoku. The pilgrimage route was opened in late 17th century. The head band has stamps from Omine-san (Mt.Omine) in Nara prefecture. No sign of a place in the belly band. Bag made of hand spun and vegetable indigo dye cotton, with beautiful sashiko. The lining cloth is cotton which looks hand spun and has katazome (stencil-resist dye) stripes. The metal clasp works well, which is antique handmade with boat motif. Generally in good condition but has some indigo faded spots and wear in one of the corners in the bottom. A nice set of three carvings in emerald of bears and an Owl Fetish, Native American, probably Zuni, Navaho tribe and 20th. century (3).

The carvings are cut and polished in one emerald stone in transperant light blue-green colours, very attractive small animals.

Cotton kimono called "yukata" with bold polka dot pattern. The dye technique is called "chusen" which is one kind of stenciled paste-resist-dye. Several 10s of layers of cotton fabric can be dyed by pouring the dye liquid. All hand-sewn and in good condition except for a very faint stain in the white cloth inside the back. 20th century. 126cm x 150cm
