DESCRIPTION: Nice pair of wooden exercise clubs or juggling pins. The bodies of both clubs have been turned and the lines painted in alternating colors of red and green. Very good condition with normal wear and no cracks. DIMENSIONS: The taller club is 13.75” high; the shorter club is 12" high.

Maiwai-gi which is a festive kimono of fishermem. It was given to fishermen from a master of fishermen or an owner of a fish boat on the occasion of large catch. It is mostly made of cotton with auspicious motifs with katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and partly hand painting. The original location of the Maiwai-gi is Boso peninsula in Chiba prefecture since late Edo period and spread along the Pacific Coast. This one has thick cotton lining so that it is made into yogi (kimono shaped bedding)...

Japanese contemporary ceramic vase for ikebana, or flower arrangements. It has a very interesting, gritty textural surface and color scheme of blues, purples, and brownish-greens. The interior of the vase is slightly ribbed with vertical lines going down its sides, with a yellow/brown/green and blue glaze. Signature on bottom. Chinese meiping porcelain vase with blue and white design of scrolling vines, flowers and 5 dragons. Narrow at the base, tapering outward with high, wide shoulders and very narrow neck. A band of waves decorates the neck and foot. Meiping vases are traditionally used to display flowering plum branches. Quinlong reign mark on the bottom in blue.

A fine and large stoneware dish by Sakuma Totaro (1900~1979). Decorated with a flowering plum tree against a transparent ash glazed ground. The back is plain and glazed with a clear ash glaze. Mid 20th century.

The original wood storage box (tomobako) lid is inscribed in ink with a title and the signature of the potter with his red seal.

First son of Sakuma Fukujiro, a mingei potter in Mashiko, Totaro studied ceramics with his father...

This Chinese ivory carving of a mountain scene is a mid 20th century product. It is 5 1/8” high (with carved wood base is 6 ¼” high), 2” wide and 1 ½” thick. It depicts a village scene on a mountain. It starts from a boat in a river. Going up the trail, people are riding a buffalo or horse, sitting in a sedan chair or just walking. There are houses, booths, a pagoda and pine trees along the trail. It is in very good condition.

Off-white flowing wool jacket with generously applied yarn figural art work on the back, front, and sleeves, Mexico, c.1940's. Satin lined with gathered shoulders, this jacket is stitched at the two front pockets and all the edges. Approx. size 14 and the sleeves can be folded.
