This large disk-shaped ritual object from central Asia - the Bactrian-Margiana Archaeological Complex - is made of marble. Dated in the 3rd to 2nd millennium century BC, it has a smooth, curved-in side, and the concave surface of the face is well-polished. The bowl is cast and then finished by fine chisel work and engraving, all against an intricate punched ground. It features a myriad of hunters and animals, the trees seem full of game. This dramatic Big Red—a name Daniel Tretiak attached to Haku Maki’s large red prints, usually of single Chinese characters (kanji) on black backgrounds—is a character meaning ordinary or commonplace. But Maki has done it in a stand-out way. It is 17.5in W x 24.5inH.

This is a very fine and unusual Japanese Satsuma vase with relief figures. The work on this piece is highly detailed and the gold thickly applied. The Dragon and clouds are decorated with silver. The piece is in very good condition will minor wear. The Artist signature is the most worn area on the piece. With magnification it can be seen that it is signed Fuzan but it is very hard to make out. I have included a similar Fuzan mark for comparison. The vase stands 8 1/2 inches tall.
A Ridgway Salt Glaze Relief Molded Stoneware Pitcher; Signed in Imprint "Published by W Ridgway & Co. Hanley October 1, 1835". There is a Pewter Lid on the Beige Body, with the Figures Telling the Story of Tam O'Shanter, from the Robert Burns (1759-1796) poem. I Shows a pub scene to one side, and an equestrian scene to the other. Dimensions; 9" high. Height 9 inches. The pitcher is in excellent condition, but the pewter lid is loose, but not damaged.
