**This item is On Hold**A white porcelain "Blanc-de-Chine" Buddhist Lion incense stick holder in similar style to the larger Guardian Lions which are frequently to be found at the entrances to Buddhist temples. These were probably originally made for domestic home altars and were among the first items to be exported to Europe from China as decorative objects. This item was made in the kilns of Dehua, Fujian Province, South China ,circa 1640-1660, and exported to Europe during the middle of the 17th Century. For a very similar example please see catalogue # 90 in "Blanc de Chine - Porcelain from Dehua a catalogue of the Hickley Collection, Singapore" by Rose Kerr & John Ayers. Condition: one old 3cm hairline to the base; no further damages, no losses and no restoration. 16.8cm (6.5inches) high.

An elaborately inlaid three drawer marquetry cabinet, unusually, with tambour doors. This item was made in Japan, for export, during the late 19th or early 20th century. In very good used condition; there is one small piece of veneer missing from the top back corner of the right side; no further losses, no restoration and no alterations. 23 cm (9 inches) high; 24.5 cm (9.5 inches) high.

A finely embroidered silk River or Lakeside Landscape made in Japan for export during the late 19th or early 20th Century. This item was framed in the UK by Boots the Chemist's, circa 1910 - 1925 Condition: excellent. Frame: 37cm (14.5 inches) wide;29.3cm (11.5 inches) high.

A Famille Rose enamelled figure of a lady made in China for export to Europe circa 1780-1800 during the reign of either the Qianlong or Jiaqing emperors. Condition - the head has broken off and been re-glued; one earring is missing and there are small chips to the yellow head dress and to three finger tips. There has been no restoration. 20cm (7.9 inches) high.

A rare 1920s Bursley ware vase inspired by Islamic 16th Century Turkish Iznik ceramic style and belonging to the 'Bagdad' range. This design is attributed to Frederick Rhead. Condition - excellent. No chips, cracks or restoration. 18.5cm (7.25cm) high.

A hammered copper Arts and Crafts style plaque decorated with three stylized marine fish amongst bubbles and seaweed. This item will have been made in the British Isles circa 1890-1910. We have been unable to attribute it to a particular school or workshop. Condition: very good, with no damages or repairs. 30cm (12 inches) diameter

A thickly potted high footed porcelain dish decorated with 'famille rose' enamels depicting three Manchurian Cranes in flight above waves and framed with a simplified 'key fret' border. Inside the foot, on the base, is the Minyao six character iron red seal mark of the Tongzhi emperor. This item was made in China during either the Tongzhi (1862-1874) reign or a little later during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Condition: good - there is wear to the enamels and there are small chips and frits to the rim; there are no cracks and there has been no restoration. 4.8cm (1.9 inches) high; 16.5cm (6.5 inches) across.

A rare carved bone abacus with integral reverse glass painting depicting four boys, in a garden setting, peering into a large fish bowl. There is an added inscritpion carved into one side recording that this item was given as a gift in Hong Kong in 1953. Condition; very good - no damages or losses. 11.5cm (4.5 inches) long; 5.5cm (2.2 inches) wide; 1.5cm deep.

A turquoise glazed faience Ushabti figure, of mummiform shape, made in ancient Egypt during the late period, circa 1069 - 332 BC. Provenance: from an old Merseyside collection. Condition: there is age degradation to the surface and the tip of the feet has been chipped off. 9cm (3.5 inches) long.

A heavy well cast 'bronze' figure, in traditional Benin ceremonial coral beaded costume and headress, probably made in Nigeria during the early to mid 20th Century. Condition: excellent. A moulded porcelain chrysanthemum shaped bowl decorated on the outside in blue and white enamels with stylized scrolling lotus flowers and bats 'Fu' (good luck). Incorporated within this pattern are three overglaze red and gold 'Shou' (long life) characters. The base carries the iron red reign mark of the Daoguang emperor (1821-1850). This item was made in China, in the mid 19th Century, for export to the Malaysian "Straits" Chinese community. A rare original pair of clear plastic cased Yellow coloured ankle boots with clear moulded plastic heels, each with an impressed Mary Quant 'Daisy' motif capable of creating a trail of daisy footprints in wet sand. This design was introduced in 1967 and is typical of the innovative use of new materials in the cutting edge British fashions of the 1960s. For a similar pair in this style please view the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) and also a pair in this colour in the collection of the Museum of London. We bought these boots in 1976 as part of a large clearance of 1960s clothing from an S&U Stores depot in Wednesbury (outside Birmingham). Condition: Unused, no damages or losses, but displaying some minor signs of aging such as the brown internal mark at the back of the right foot. Size: 5 (UK). An "ogee" shaped porcelain bowl decorated with polychrome 'famille rose' enamels depicting two pheasants amongst flowering peony and pomegranate branches and below a band of alternating lotus flowers and the eight Buddhist emblems, the Bajixiang. The seal mark to the base reads "Zhong Hua Min Guo" (Republic of China), dating it to the period 1911-1949. A small and very rare antique 'bisque' (unglazed) porcelain doll in her original costume made in pre-revolution Russia during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: very good - the textiles are distressed ; the porcelain is fine - no damages and no losses. 12.5cm (5 inches) high.

A small heavy porcelain jar (without its original cover) finely decorated with stylized peony scrolls in green and iron red against a yellow enamel ground and with four cartouches depicting flowers, insects and precious objects painted with additional overglaze blue and aubergine enamels. Although painted in early 1th Century Kangxi style this item was made in China, for export, during the late 19th or early 20th Century, probably during the reign of the Guangxu emperor, (1875-1908). Condition: Excellent there are no damages and there has been no restoration. 12.4cm (4.8 inches) high; 13cm (5.1 inches) wide.

A rare burnished red earthenware foot rasp, in the form of a stylized crouching crocodile, probably made in Asyut (circa 1850-1920), for use in the Egyptian public bath house. There is a very similar example in the Pitt Rivers Museum (University of Oxford: http://web.prm.ox.ac.uk/bodyarts/index.php/temporary-body-arts/toiletries/50-footcare.html . An underglaze blue decorated porcelain coffee cup, painted with flowers and butterflies. This item was made in Jingdezhen, China, for export to Europe, during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 5.5cm (2.2inches0 high; 6.5cm (2.5inches) diameter.

An Arita porcelain deep dish painted in shades of underglaze blue with fishermen in a boat in a river landscape. This item was made in Japan, during the Edo period, in the second half of the 18th Century. Condition: there is a glaze imperfection (bottom left) below the boat; no damages and no repairs or restoration. 22 cm / 8.7 inches diameter

A Chinese porcelain baluster shaped vase (without its original cover) painted in under glaze blue in early 18th Century style with birds and flowers (including stylized peony and lotus). The base carries a four character Kangxi mark but this item was made later, for export, during either the late 19th or early 20th Century.

Condition: excellent - very minor fritting to the base rim but no chips, cracks or restoration.

A richly patinated carved wood figure of a seated drum playing musician. This item was made in Bali, circa 1900-1940, during the first half of the 20th Century. Condition - very good - there is a small chip to the head-dress (please view enlargement 11) - no further damage and no repairs. 18cm (7 inches) wide; 32cm (12.5 inches) high.

A large papier mache lacquered plaque or tray made for export or sale to foreigners during the early 20th Century. This raised relief design incorporating the "Satsuma cross" motif is very common on low grade tea and coffee sets made in vast quantities for export during the 1920s and 1930s. It is unusual to see this brocade style pattern depicted in this medium. Condition - good. There are two old screw holes in the back, age related "crazing" to the surface, substantial wear to the rim and there is an old repair to the bottom edge ( please see enlargement 2) there has been no restoration. 15.5 inches (39cm) diameter.

A larger than average Anglo-Irish Rummer (ale glass) with "Panel & Flute" cut glass "Barrel" shape bowl and "Bladed" knop. This item was made in colonial British ruled Ireland circa 1850. Condition: excellent - no damages. 10.3cm 94.5inches) high; 8.4cm ( 3.25inches) diameter.

A very finely painted Imari porcelain bowl, decorated on the outside with underglaze blue and over glaze iron red and with a central kinrande style panel of gilt floral scrolling. The interior is painted in polychrome enamels and is decorated with the "Three Friends of Winter" - Bamboo, Prunus (plum) Blossom and Pine Tree and with a Crane and a mythological Turtle to the centre. On the base is an iron red Fuku (good luck) mark. This item was made in Japan in the 19th Century, probably during the Meiji period (1868-1912) Condition: there is an old 7cm hairline clealy visble on the inside; no further damages and no restoration. 8.3cm (3.25inches) high; 18.5cm (7.3inches) diameter. Weight: 700gm (24oz).

A finely painted and gilded "soft-paste" porcelain breakfast size Moustache Cup (right-handed) dedicated to a John P. Small in 1882, possibly a presentation piece. Condition: there are two old 1cm hairlines to the rim: no further damages and no restoration. 8cm (3.1 inches) high; 9cm (3.5 inches) diameter.

A rare very well carved soapstone sculpture of Lui Hai in traditional pose ensnaring the three -legged toad with a string of cash. This item was made circa 1750 - 1800 during the reigns of either the Qianlong or the Jaiqing Emperors. The tip of one finger is missing and there is an old glued repair - most visible on the upper foot. Little of the original paintwork is now visible. Height - 7.5 inches (19cm).

A rare Dehua 'Blanc de Chine' porcelain figure group depicting two kneeling women and a crucifix - made in the 18th Century for export to Europe. An identical piece - part of the P J Donnelly bequest - is currently on display in the British Museum. There are two light hairlines visible on the front and a firing crack following the mold join on one side. Only traces of the original gilding remain. 3.9 inches (10cm) High.

A rare Early 17th century peach form bronze waterpot (for the scholar's writing table) with three peach-shaped feet, probably made circa 1600 - 1644. There is very old, dark, patination and the remains of the original gold splashed decoration is still visible on the underside. This item is in very good condition with no damages. 2 1/2 inches (6.5cm) High 5.2 inches (13cm) Across.

A bronze tripod censer with elephant form feet made during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). There is no cover and the handles have been removed. There are losses to the ear of one elephant and to the trunk of the other, with one exception, all the semi-precious stones which would have been set in the elephants headresses are missing. 4.2 inches (10.5cm) High.
