A large silk satin fan, with sixteen gilt decorated wood "sticks", hand-painted depicting four birds amongst flowering prunus or cherry branches. This item is made with Chinese silk but was probably made in France and was retailed in Liverpool - unusually complete with its original box which carries a dispatch date of 9th November 1898. This item is in very good unused condition. 34cm (13.3inches) long; 62cm (24.3inches) wide when extended.

一把手绘花鸟纹扇。木制扇骨共16条，扇面用中国绸缎制成，绘有梅枝和雀鸟，画工精美。带原装纸盒，上面贴有零售商沃茨有限公司（Watts & Co Ltd）利物浦分店的出货单，日期为1898年11月9日。应为法国生产，在利物浦零售。

A very well patinated wood carving, with silver wire inlay, depicting the Daoist Immortal Li Tieguai. This item was made, circa 1750-1850, probably during the reign of either the Jiaqing or Qianlong emperors. For similar please view identically carved and decorated figures of six of the Eight Daoist Immortals in the collection of the Field Museum, Chicago ( illustrated on page 115 in "The Arts of China after 1620" by William Watson & Chuimei Ho, 2007, Yale University Press, ISBN 0-300-073933). Condition - excellent - no damages and no repairs. 28cm (11 inches) high.

A finely painted famille rose enamelled deep dish made in China, circa 1730, for export to Europe during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor (1723-1735). Condition - this item has been broken into pieces and repaired (please view enlargements). 22cm (8.7inches) diameter.

清雍正 18世纪初 粉彩牡丹花纹盘
一件画工精美的粉彩牡丹花纹盘，1730年左右，清雍正年间出口至欧洲的外销瓷。
品相：有大修，经过修补（见图）。直径22厘米。

A fine,large and very rare eight sided documentary vase (with fitted wood stand) - decorated in Chinese scholar's taste and bearing two poems. The first, small poem on the neck of the vase, describes the under glaze blue painted picture on the reverse side. Roughly translated - "Fisherman looks across riverbank - there are Huang Yang trees. There are three roads leading home and he carries a 'dan' (two baskets with carrying yoke). He is wearing a raincoat and hat and it is raining - he sees a farmer riding a buffalo. Cold brush and ink stone can make good article." The longer poem, inscribed in eight lines and written in sixteen seven character sentences, is the Fisherman's narrative story and can be translated as follows - "He walks through the trees - returning home at noon. Children are laughing outside the door. He is asked why he has finished fishing so early? He watches a bird catch a crab on the edge of a sand bank. He removes his brown clothes and goes to get some fire wood. White clouds are over the ground and the colour matches his shoes. His wife tells him to be careful when carrying the dan. 'Don't go to the high places or dangerous cliffs'. Farming is hard work - busy by day busy by night. He asks how much food (grain) is left in store. Old lady (his wife) smiles and points to the foot of the mountain. The wheat is green and the barley is yellow (they have enough food). The child,with his hair in the shape of a bun, is sleeping on the ground. Light rain (like mist) gives the fields the appearance of being covered with smoke. When he awakes he doesn't see his son - who is studying. He travels long distances through beautiful places - flowing river and falling flower petals - looking for him." This item was made in the Jingdezhen kilns, Jiangxi province south China, probably during the fist half of the 19th Century circa 1800 - 1850. Condition - there are two chips to the rim (one large and one small) and there is one chip to the shoulder There are no cracks and there has been no restoration. Height - 43cm (17 inches).

稀有的19世纪中国青花诗画八棱大花瓶（带座）
一件精美稀有的大型八棱诗画瓶（带底座），具有中国文人的装饰风格，上书两首诗文。瓶颈上 的短诗——“渔家隔岸绿垂杨，三径挑担入卧乡，两笠烟蓑耕野客，砚冰笔冻大文章”——描述了瓶身反面的画境。瓶身的长诗，八行十六句，书为：“柳贯鱼归正 午时，儿童门外笑嘻嘻；问翁何事收竿早，懒看沙头鹘螃持。脱却乌衣去打柴，白云满地衬芒鞋；老妻嘱咐轻挑担，莫踏高岗与险涯。农事纷纷日夜忙，问渠余积几 多粮；阿婆笑指南山下，小麦青青大麦黄。束发孩童枕地眠，朦胧细雨草生烟；醒来不见儿披读，寻到落花流水边”。作于江西景德镇，估为19世纪后半期 1850-1900年间，或为更早。

A deep dish or shallow bowl delicately painted with famille rose enamels depicting two historical figures with their titles and accompanying poems and with a peach and bat to the centre. The base carries the reign mark of the Daoguang emperor and this item was possibly made during his reign. Condition - there are chips and cracks to the rim - please view enlargements - would make a good study piece. 16cm (6.25inches) diameter; 3cm (1.2inches) deep.

A rare carved ivory Netsuke in the form of a Lion or Karashishi, made in Japan in the Edo / Tokugawa period (1600-1868), probably during the 18th Century. Condition: Excellent - age yellowing and cracks - no damages or losses and no restoration. 4cm (1.6inches)long; 3.6cm (1.3inches) high; 2.4cm (0.9inches) deep. Please note - purchasers from outside the European Union will require a CITES Certificate and may also require import documentation within their own country.

A heavy porcelain fish bowl decorated in traditional Chinese taste in 17th Century Transitional style with a continuous panoramic landscape. Above the base is a band of 14th/15th Century style breaking waves: above the landscape is a Ruyi / floral border. Condition: there is a three way star crack to the base - one , which has an associated chip to the footrim, runs down one side of the bowl from top to bottom and a second runs half way up one side (please view enlargements); no further damages and no restoration. 30cm (12inches) high; 36cm (14inches) diameter

A bronze Censer, with cover, cast in the form of a seated Crane and made in China during either the 18th or the 19th Century. A rare Mahogany table with deeply carved traditional West African style geometric decoration and with elegant stylized antelope form legs. The European shape and African decoration suggests that this item was made for European clients during the Colonial period, is probably Igbo from eastern Nigeria, and was possibly exported to the UK in the 1950s or 1960s during the period of transition to Independence. Condition: very good - no damages or repairs. Top 74cm (29.1 inches) x 58.5cm ( 23 inches). 67 cm ( 26.3 inches) high

A blown moulded Art Nouveau green Loetz glass vase with 'Cherry Sprig' pewter mounts, probably designed by Frederich Adler, and made by Orion Pewter, Nuremberg, Germany circa 1905. A similar vase is illustrated in "20th Century Pewter" by Paul Carter Robinson (2012) ISBN 978 1 85149 6150. Condition: there are some very small surface nicks to the glass and slight bumps to the pewter; no cracks, losses or repairs. 10cm (4 inches) high; 11cm (4.3inches) across.

An attractively enamelled Kutani porcelain figure of a Geisha made in Japan for export circa 1890-1910. Condition: Good - there are, easily restored, minor losses to the black enamels; no chips or cracks and no repairs or restoration. 29.5cm (11.6inches) high.

A stainless steel "Campden" candelabrum designed by award winning silversmith and industrial designer Robert Welch for Old Hall and manufactured circa 1957. Condition: excellent with very little sign of wear and original teak wood feet still intact. 23.2cm (9.1inches) high.

An archaic style vase with crackle-glaze and simulated metal mounts. On the base is the apocryphal mark of the 15th Century (Ming) Chenghua emperor but this item was made much later , in the 19th Century, probably during the reign of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874) when this style was first introduced. Condition - excellent no damage and no restoration. 30cm (11.75 inches) high. A rare thinly potted and extremely well painted deep dish with exceptionally fine porcelain body. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Jiajing emperor (1522-1566) enclosed within a double circle but this item was probably made later, in the 16th/17th Century, during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619). Condition: there is production glaze loss (fritting) to the rim but no cracks or damages and no restoration. 15cm (6 inches) diameter; 3.2cm (1.25inches) high. 894

A large underglaze blue decorated vase, very finely painted in 18th Century style with bands of plantain leaves, key fret and ruyi above the Bajixiang (eight Buddhist emblems) amongst cloud scrolls. On the base is the six character seal mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) but this item was made later, in the 20th Century, probably during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition - a section of the body has been broken and was professionally repaired about 30 years ago (please view enlargements 7 and 8) and there are two drill holes to the base where we have had the vase tested. 38cm (15inches) high. A large and heavy porcelain vase with thick Sang-de-boeuf ('Ox-blood') glaze. On the base is incised the six character reign mark of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). We have been unable to decide whether this item was made during his reign (in the late Qing dynasty) or later during the Republic period (1912-1949. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 44cm (17.3inches) high; weight 5kg (11 lbs).

A Chinese porcelain vase profusely decorated with famille rose enamels. This item was made for export during the second half of the 19th century, possibly during the reign of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874). There is a shallow ground under rim chip (please view enlargement 7) and there is wear to the gilding on the stylized gilded chilong dragons around the neck; no cracks and no restoration. 15cm (5.9inches) high.

盘口，颈部两条镏金螭龙。为19世纪下半叶的外销瓷，可能作于清同治年间。

A green "Celadon" glazed dish or shallow bowl with flat bracketed rim. The centre is decorated with a moulded peony flower; surrounding this the thick green glaze is incised with stylized lotus scrolls. This item was made in the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province circa 1400-1500 during the first half of the Ming dynasty. For a very similar example please compare exhibit 16:66, page 489 - "Ming Ceramics in the British Museum", Jessica Harrison Hall. Condition - excellent - there is the usual surface wear to the interior but there are no damages and no restoration. 25cm (9.8 inches) diameter.

明代 龙泉窑青釉印花菱口盘 约1400 - 1500
一件青釉菱口盘或浅口碗。中央印花为牡丹，四周刻有缠枝莲花，为厚重青釉所覆盖。作于浙江龙泉窑，约为明代上半期(1400 - 1500)。类似的器型，请见《大英博物馆明代陶瓷》一书(英文，"Ming Ceramics in the British Museum", Jessica Harrison Hall)第489页第16:66展品。

A pair of 17th/18th Century style underglaze blue painted vases decorated with flowering branches of prunus blossom. The bases carry the four character reign mark of the Kangxi emperor but these items were made later, probably for export, during the late Qing or early Republic period, circa 1880-1920. Condition: one vase is in excellent condition, with no damages and no repairs or restoration; the other has a 0.7cm under rim chip (please view our 4th picture) and it has a re-glued 10cm section on the shoulder (please view pictures 3, 5 & 6). 29.8cm (11.7inches) high. An early 20th Century ostrich feather ladies fan with twenty faux tortoiseshell (plastic) sticks. This item was made in the first half of the 20th Century, probably circa 1920-1940. Condition: excellent, probably unused - some of the sticks still have their original tissue paper wraps. 38cm (15inches) across when extended.

A rare ovoid vase on high flaring foot painted in shades of underglaze blue and made in China for export to Europe during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722). Condition: there is "fritting" (production glaze loss) to the base (please view enlargements) and there are very minor glaze imperfections; there are no cracks and there has been no restoration. 14.5cm (5.7inches) high.

A painted lacquer panel decorated with carved bone, ivory and "composition" figures depicting a farmer and a boy in a mountain landscape. This item was made in Japan, for export, during the Meiji period (1868-1911) Condition: very good - minor losses to the boy's fishing net and to some of the white paint; no restoration and no further losses. 45.2cm (17.9inches) high; 30cm (11.9inches) wide. A Ruskin pottery vase by William Howson Taylor typically copying a Chinese Song dynasty shape. It has a purplish pink lustre "souffle" glaze and on the base is the impressed date 1931. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 11cm (4.3 inches) high.

A small metel bound six drawer black lacquered cabinet finely painted in gold lacquer . Three drawers are decorated with a branch of flowering prunus blossom and the large drawer and door are each painted with a single duck amongst reeds and iris. Condition: very good - there is some age wear to the decoraration on the top, sides and back but the gold lacquer painting on the front is in excellent condition. No repairs replacements or losses. 23cm (9inches) high; 21cm (8.25inches) wide; 10.5cm (4.1inches) deep.

A rare finely potted and attractively painted bowl depicting a stylized peach tree bearing seven peaches. This item was made by Tessa Fuchs (1936-2012). Condition: Excellent - no damages and no restoration. 16cm (6.3inches ) diameter; 7.5cm (3inches) high

A hand-painted moulded earthenware (religious subject) wall plaque with "majolica" glaze, made in the style of the 15th century Italian sculptor and ceramicist Lucia della Robbia. This item was made in Italy during the 19th Century and bears an old shop sticker and an under glaze blue signature on the back. Condition: Very minor glaze loss to the nose of one angel and to the caps of both - otherwise in extremelly good condition with nochips cracks or restoration. 36.4cm (14.3inches) wide; 22.8cm (9inches) high; 2.4cm (1inch) deep.

A rare and finely carved 18th Century Chinese "honey yellow" soapstone Luohan, probably Damo (Bodhidarma). On the back is carved "made by Shang Jun". Condition - very good. This item was originally set with semi-precious stones but, with the exception of one white stone on the collar behind the neck, all are now missing; there are natural "flaws" intrinsic to the stone which pre-date the carving. There have been no repairs and there has been no restoration. 9cm (3.5ins) high. 稀有的18世纪寿山石雕罗汉像 “尚均”款
一件精美稀有的18世纪黄色寿山石雕罗汉像，或为达摩。石雕背面有“尚均作”字样。尚均又名周彬，为清代寿山石雕刻家。
品相：很好。罗汉衣领部分曾多处嵌有宝石，现在仅存有颈后的一粒；作者根据石料的特点因势而雕，石料本身有些许瑕疵，而根据花纹样式可见这些瑕疵在雕刻前就已存在，但无缺损，无修补。高9厘米。
