Very interesting Roman pottery oil lamp with a Roman empress or high born lady on the discus, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.
The lamp can be dated quite accurately since the hairstyle of the lady is from the period of Hadrian-Antoninus Pius, so no later than 170 AD.
Size: 12 cm. a large and quite massive lamp.
Condition: Very nice and intact, with traces of corrosion.
Ex. Collection of M. Victor Dumas, France, aquired before 1920.

An absolutely lovely large terracotta head of a female deity, perhaps Aphrodite/Venus, Hellenistic or early Roman, 2nd. century BC-1st. cent AD.
The unusual head is not hollowcast but solid and done in the fine Hellenistic or early Roman style. She is tilting her head slightly to her left and has an elaborate headdress.
Size: c. 10 cm. tall and 7 cm. wide and weighing 252 grams.

A large greek terracotta figure of a high born Lady standing on a high base, Greek/South Italy, 4th-3rd century B.C.
The bust depicts a lady with a fine gown swept on and she holds it with her right hand. The left hand carries something over her right shoulder. She wears a large headress or crown.
Size: 24 cm. tall.
Condition: Choice and completely intact with remains of pigment and patina.

She is depicted as a beautiful and voluptious concubine. She is naked from the low waist up and is bending slightly forward to look into the mirror with a comb in her other hand and she has a look of perhaps dissatisfaction on her face. Her elaborate headdress is in the style of the court, early 2nd. century AD at the time of the Emperor Trajan.

A very attractive bust with a wide strong chest and painted facial details in black pigment. His hair is rather long and he is arising from a round plint as was the typical for the Imperial Roman busts. The bust is possible depicting Antinous, Hadrians famous lover.
