Imperial folio lithograph with hand coloring after John W. Audubon of a pair of Little Nimble Weasels in winter coats printed by J.T. Bowen 1848. This print was part of the three volume folio printed between 1845 and 1848 of the Viviparous Quadruped of North America. The sheet is approximately 22 x 28 inches (56 x 71 cm), the mat opening 18 ½ x 24 ½ inches (47 x 62 cm) and the oak frame 24 ¾ x 31 ½ inches (61 x 80 cm)...

Hand colored lithograph titled, “THE BATTERY, NEW YORK/BY MOONLIGHT.” N. Currier lower left, address lower right. Promenade under the leafy trees with the full moon lighting the harbor with sailing vessels. Kennedy Galleries label taken from the earlier back board, now on the new backing. Sight size 9 x 12 ½ inches, over all with frame, 16 1/8 x 19 1/8 inches.

Condition: Minor tears in the margins and some slight discoloration, but otherwise good condition.

A hand colored lithograph by Currier and Ives titled, “The Narrows, New York Bay/ from Staten Island.” The scene depicts a nearly rural Staten Island in the foreground with part of the harbor in the middle and the narrows, now home to the Verrazano Bridge in the distance. Japanese woodblock print by Kunitero Utagawa (1808-1876) in three sheets, depicting the war council of the forty seven ronin. These ronin, the loyal retainers, had been Samurai in the service of Lord Asano when he was obligated to commit seppuku for drawing his sword at the Palace of the Shogun. He was provoked to drawing by many insults from Kira Yoshinaka...

A Japanese woodblock three-part print showing a festival by a river or lake with boats, people in the water, a review stand (?) and numerous people, some with banners. The signature is for Hiroshige III and the censor’s seals for 1855. The paper is laid. Each sheet is approx. 14 5/8 x 9 7/8 inches (35.5 x 25 cm).

Condition: good with one crease to the lower left corner of the middle sheet and bends from being corner mounted with photo corners. Otherwise clean and crisp...

An interesting color printed engraving of George Washington published in London in 1798 by Robert Cribb, Holborn, engraved by William Nutter after a painting by Gilbert Stuart purported to belong to J.S. DeFranca of Devonshire Place. Devonshire Place is a part of London, but a quick search did not turn up a J.S. DeFranca and it is possible that this print is a copy of another print of Washington, based on the Lansdowne portrait by Gilbert Stuart. It is printed on laid paper and the fact that it ...

The image without printing is 9 1/4 by 14 1/8 inches (23.5 x 36 cm), the page 12 ¾ by 18 ½ inches (32.5 x 47 cm).

Condition: some staining, roughness around the margins and some rubbing of the surface. Matted and backed with acid free matboard.
