This very well made and hand painted vase is a 19th century product. It is 9 ½” high and 2 ¾” wide from the widest part. It depicts chrysanthemum and butterflies over a beige crackled body. There is a brocade pattern design on the top of the vase. The black hand-painted mark “Dai Nippon, Taizan Sei” is on the bottom. It is in great condition.

This is a rare Meiji period Japanese tree bark cloisonné jar. It is cloisonné design over ceramic body which was made to look like tree bark. It is 7” tall and 5 ½” at its widest part. It has a flower, bird and butterfly design over its brown body. It is in great condition, a little color rubbed off of the rim and base.

Antique Japanese pair of Kutani ware porcelain fu-dogs. Each figure is glazed brown with green curling mane and tail. They stand on a yellow and brown glazed rectangular platforms. One has an open mouth while the other has a small horn. Fu-dogs or Foo-lions are fierce protectors but are also playful and energetic.

Very large tile in the shape of (and virtually in the size of) a handscroll decorated in underglaze blue with a crashing wave and a full moon. The mouth of this vase opens like the thickly petaled chrysanthemum flower over a body decorated in thin blue with a roiling landscape of lakes and trees dotted with pavilions. It is an excellent example of the Hirado tradition in the 19th century. The vase is 14 cm (5-1/2 inches) diameter,28.8 cm (11-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition.

This is an exquisite antique Japanese Imari porcelain jar and cover from the late 17th century, precisely from the Edo period, circa 1680-1700 AD. The jar is a testament to the unparalleled craftsmanship of the Japanese artisans of the time. The ovoid body of the jar is expertly decorated underglaze with peonies and chrysanthemums in iron red, cobalt blue, and gilt. Antique small Hirado ware figure of a rabbit. Made of porcelain and glazed white with great detail especially to fur. Hirado ware was first developed in the village of Mikawachi located in the area of Kyushu which was, along with neighboring islands, controlled by the Hirado daimyo. Initially Hirado ware was made exclusively for the daimyo's use. Later, Hirado ware found it's way west through Japan's trade with the Dutch East Indian Company.
