Within the foot-rim can be found the six-character mark shen de tang bo gu zhi, which may be translated, 'Antique made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'. Three 19th century Chinese porcelain sculptures of birds - a yellow songbird, a parrot and a pheasant. Nice lifelike compositions and potting, beautiful glazes. Very pleasant warm patina, in great condition, compressed dust on the surface. e. Height of the tallest blue parrot is 5 inches.

A fine,very well potted, 17/18th Century baluster shaped vase (without cover) well painted in shades of underglaze blue, depicting prunus blossom against a "cracked ice" ground.

This item was made during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662 - 1722).

Condition - excellent. There is a possibility that the rim may have been reduced and there is an extemely faint (glaze only) crack to the base...
