Glazed stoneware lime pot. Relief decoration, glued to the slip representing a dragon, a phoenix and Buddhist emblems covered with thick blue, brown and cream enamels. Vietnamese work from the 19th century or before. Some applied elements have peeled off and the enamel has chipped in places over time as can be seen in the photos. Rare ceramic of good quality. Provenance: This superb condition massive celadon charger / dish was recovered from the Royal Nanhai (AD. c.1460) shipwreck. The dating was based on carbon 14 analysis of the ships timber and by cross-referring the ceramic cargo to other datable shipwreck sites...

Thai 14th - 15th Century Underglazed Footed Stoneware Box

This footed round stoneware box was made during the 14th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is decorated with scrolling and geometric patterns in underglaze iron-brown with a clear blueish and finely-crackled glaze. The inner surface of the box is coated with same clear blueish glaze.

This is a large example of its type with a diameter of 13 cm...

Mother nursing her child, probably from the Sawankhalok kilns. The body of the hand-modeled figure is rather hastily sculpted as is the doll-like child. This hastiness is typical of figures such as this one which were made in large numbers and distributed as fertility charms. This one, however, has more care taken in defining the facial features of the mother as well as her hairstyle...
