This is a nice piece of cobalt blue glazed scholar’s brush stand. It has three mountains with scene of the “Hai Ma” flying amidst the ocean waves on both side of the stand. Circa. 19th century.

The brush stand is in good condition. No chip, repair, restoration or glaze friting.

Japanese woodblock print triptych by Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III, (1786-1864) titled "Hana no utage Murasaki no omokage" (Flower Party) published by Moriya Jihei in 1859. The print illustrates a scene with Prince Genji seated beside a lake on a raised platform with ladies at his side enjoying cherry blossoms and spring weather. 19th century Asakusa school stag antler netsuke of a seated tanuki (badger) with its enormous belly, an inscribed sake bottle in one paw, an accounting book in the other. In Japanese folklore tanuki is a notorious trickster: it drums with his paws on its large belly (tanuki no hara tsuzumi), imitating the sounding of gongs in temples and inns, and leading tired travelers astray in the darkness. Judging by the book in its paw, this time tanuki acts as a sake vendor...

A really old Japanese lacquer wooden mizusashi for the tea ceremony, made of cherry wood with its original lacquered lid. It dates from the later Edo Period. Such wooden mizusashis are really rare. It is elegantly proportioned and has a black lacquered interior.

19th century netsuke of a baying stag with its head turned back, its upper front teeth bared. Elegant carving with pure clean lines, excellent hairwork, wonderful depiction of volume of the deer body and his antlers, eyes inlaid in black horn, beautiful patina. Himotoshi is formed by its feet. Wonderful sculpture. Height 1 3/4 inches.

Antique18th - 19th centuries Armenian Ottoman, filigree, partially gilt silver, large belt buckle or cloak cape clasp fastener, formed from two circular domed bosses entirely made of high-grade silver.

Each boss is composed of many individual elements in fine filigree wire work, twisted and soldered of excellent precision, with a pattern of scrolling foliate, leaves, and flower heads set with faux gemstones on raised settings, and adorned with crossed gilt straps...

A large Chinese Porcelain censor with blue monochrome exterior and white interior. There are three rounded bumps at the base that represent the three feet of a censor. The bowl measures about 5 1/2" high x 9 3/4" in diameter and dates to the Ching Dynasty. The condition is very good with some interior kiln flaw and glaze crawl. Fitted and finely carved lid of chicken wing wood (jichimu). The inscription reads: “A treasure from the Zhishi shanfang.” In a Japanese box from the 19th century (with full inscription). Description: Fine antique Persian copper bowl, late Quajar period, a band of engraved Persian poem from poet Hafez fallowed by geometrical design. On the base a horse in sitting position with a bird with open wings on the horse's back. This type of bowls was carried by people so every individual had his own bowl and was used for drinking water or wine. Measurements: 1 inches high and 3 3/8 inches in diameter in good condition. For a similar example, see Christie's, April 24, 1990.

Japanese hand-forged iron tsuba, used to protect a swordsman's hand from sliding up the blade during use as well as to provide balance. The front depicts two joyful festival performers, one holding a drum and the other holding a fan, the figures in relief with gilt accenting throughout. The backside of the tsuba shows a large mallet and mortar traditionally used for pounding rice into mochi.

An actor in street attire standing in front of a row of shops and tea houses by Osaka artist Sadahiro (active 1830-1851) dating circa 1845.
