This old Chinese silk hat would have been owned and worn by a gentleman of some financial means. This is a classical form Song dynasty small moulded longquan or celadon dish with appliqué twin fish in the centre and an everted flatten flatten mouth rim. The exterior is moulded with an overlapping upright lotus petal radiating from the foot. The dish is glazed with an uneven light green colour with glaze crazing.

A pair of lacquered iron abumi (Japanese stirrups) decorated in fine gold and nashiji (pear skin) lacquer on a roiro urushi, black lacquer ground. Each carries a Tokugawa aoi crest (three hollyhock leaves in a circle) within scrolling leaf background, the bottom constructed with wood pieces within an iron frame which made it lighter, thus gave a better control. Edo period (17th/18th century).  9" high, 5 1/4" wide.

This lovely late 19th C Ko Kutani bijin is holding two opened fans with a flower on her head. Exquisite features and detailing, this already highly collectible Ko Kutani figure is even more special because the flower also serves as a candle holder. This is a beautiful bronze dagger from the Dong Son culture in early Southeast Asia. It dates to the Han period (ca 200 bc). The very fine quillons that are often missing on pieces of this type are present and intact, making this a truly rare and high quality find. It measures 31.5 cm in length and weighs 371 grams. It appears to have a repair to the very tip, which is not uncommon for these daggers.

This is Ming dynasty, Wanli period deep polychrome large swatow bowl. It stands on a short foot rim with a recess base with a double red circle in the centre. From the foot rim, it everted slightly and upwards, and then towards a mildly everted mouth rim.

This tall bamboo incense holder is elaborately carved with a bird attacking a snake. The birds wings are out-stretched and spread around the container and the bird is being cheered on by a much smaller rooster. The carving is deep and detailed.

This antique Korean serving tray would have been used for serving tea or individual meals. This is a northern Song dynasty green glazed bowl. It stands on a foot rim with a recess base exposing the light buff colour stoneware and then extending upwards with a C-shaped rounded body with a rounded rim like a lip. On the cavetto, it is incised with four bud of swirling flowers with lightly combed designed in between and the centre of the bowl.

The bowl is in good condition with the exception of minute abrasion and glaze fritting. There is no repair or restoration or any chip.

The only differences between this matching pair of Japanese woman's hair combs are the very slight details in the hand-painted design and the size and spacing of the tines. The finely detailed lacquer design was painted in 3 shades of gold. Unfortunately the minute details, flower petals and tree knots are hard to see in the photos.
