Antique Japanese sculpture of a hawk coming to rest on top of a gnarled rock. Wings spread wide, the hawk grips the rock with it's talons. Each feather is intricately carved.

This late 19th century Chinese carved bamboo arm rest is 6 ¾ inches long and 2 ¼ inches wide. It depicts an autumn scene; three frogs resting behind lotus leaf and dry lotus pod. The poem on the top translate as: “When crabs are growing to maturity and yellow mums are withering away, I am drinking wine beneath a blue autumn sky.” The workmanship of the picture and calligraphy are just elegant. It has nice patina and is in excellent condition.

A rectangular and exceptionally designed top horse saddle rug or seating mat made of wool in knotted pile. Centrally two flying birds, between them quite invisible Chinese characters, bordered by swastika pattern. Lined and edged with different blue fabrics. Ancient egyptian fayence shabti of Gemshu 11,3cm

Late Period, 26th to 30th Dynasty c. 664-332 B.C

Inscription: "Gm-Sw ms, Hr-m-Axt" means "Gemshu, born by, Horemakhet" Both Gemshu "the one whom the god Shu has found" and Horemakhet "Horus is at the horizon" are personal names typical for the Late period. On personal names formed in the same manner as Gemshu see.
