Antique pair of Turkish square side tables with elaborate mashrabiya openwork on the sides. This traditional Islamic lattice work is the same that is used on mashrabiya balconies, an architectural element used to help cool the upper floors of buildings. Chinese jade carving known as a cong, an implement dating back to Neolithic China, once used for unknown but culturally important reasons. The cong is often seen with squared outer edges carved of a taotie or beast's mask, which the inside is smoothed round with a central groove. The stone's coloring is light green with mottled brown.

This jade (nephrite) carving of a reclining water buffalo and boy is 2 ¼” high, 3” wide and 2 3/8” thick. It is a late 19th century product. It depicts a young boy holding peach branches trying to climb a reclining water buffalo. Aside from some natural blemishes on the bottom, it is in great condition.

Japanese boxwood ojime bead carving of a skull, finely detailed with realistic cranial fissures, missing teeth, pierced eye sockets and nasal cavity, with tiny handmade chisel marks visible under the jaw. The ojime is a cord fastening bead, used to secure an inro container to the wearer's obi or sash.

Antique Korean bandaji, blanket storage trunk. Original finish with deep, rich patina. Iron hardware with cut out designs in hinges, lock plates, corner and side bracing. The door opens downward to a large compartment with a high shelf for storing smaller items. Though these trunks were used for storage of household items, bedding was usually folded and placed on top, thus giving them the name blanket storage chest.
