A pair of very large and elaborate silver temple rings, Viking settlers from Scandinavia (Kingdom of the Rus or Kievan Rus), present day Ukraine, c. 800-1000 AD.

The bow temple rings with globular decoration on crescents and with globular hangers on 4 skilfully made chains. These rings were worn from a headband around the temples by Viking Rus women, hence the name Temple rings.

A rare and attractive early Egyptian vessel / beaker, dating to the Old Kingdom, 2649 - 2150 BC.

The conical beaker with a wide flat rim and craved in finely banded alabaster.

Size: 68 mm. tall. and 62 mm. wide over the rim.

Condition: Very fine for the very rare type, with small chip to the rim restored.

Ex. Old German collection, aquired 1960s-1970s.

Charming and unique mate cup, South American, likely Argentina, early 20th century or late 19th century, unmarked. Measures just under 5" high, and is roughly 2 1/2" wide, with lid attached by a chain. The lid has a hole for insertion of bombilla. Ovoid form, with etched designs in bands, simple foliate and geometric designs, with textured backgrounds. The feet are delightful, three human legs with boots, a very unusual base. It sits slighlty askew, and has visible dents in body and on lid...

Diameter approximately 40 cm. There are some very soft chips at the saucers. It doesn't matter. There are glue marks on the bottom, possibly glued to the box, not including the box. More pictures are available. In good condition.

Antique Japanese bronze okimono, animated in a recumbent pose. The tanuki clothed in Buddhist monk robes, curled and withdrawn for rest. A strand of prayer beads is visible out from underneath his crossed front legs. The sculpture is skillfully cast with a bronze dark russet patina, essentiated by the chasing of the hair and the smooth surface of the folds...

This early 20th century Japanese netsuke is 2 inches high, 1 inch wide and 1 inch thick. It depicts a smiling old man. He is holding a long handled bucket in his left hand; a large woven basket is in his right hand. It is signed “Gyokusho” and is in great condition.

Chinese ceramic Buddha, circa 1900-1930 (Qing – Early Republic). The iconography is quite unusual there is a seated Buddha image on the chest, standing Buddha image on the back, and another image of the Buddha in Parinirvana reclining pose. Overall a very intriguing piece, possibly meant for export to another Asian nation. Excellent original condition- no cracks, chips or frits. H: 15cm/6in and W: 9cm/3.5in.

19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in seed shape with sunken relief carving of a cucumber and an eggplant. Excellent design in Japanese taste, green and brown stained vegetables, natural imperfections in staghorn, great patina. Height 5/8 inches.

Male figure with arms spread above standing figure of Isis with arms at side with 5 panels of hieroglyphic text from the book of the dead. Excellent condition overall. Length 53¼", width 11". Chinese Brass Lock and Key with signature, early 1900, 2 3/4" wide and 1 3/8" deep(outside measurement), 1 1/8" wide(inside measurement), stick is 3/16" less than 1/8" diameter round, sort of 3 dimentional shape, in good working condition. There are some interesting embossed and inscribed Chinese design under the old stained Brass in original condition. Thick and large size of the key is very decorative.

This antique Mongolian belt evokes the image of Mongolian horseman galloping across the plains... The chain is heavily patinated from age and use. The deeply doomed central medallion retains the original stained dark finish and highlighted gold (unknown source) on the border and central decoration. This piece is heavy... the central medallion is 6+ inches across,3.5 inches wide, and 3+ inches deep.

A beautiful and unusual Chinese Canton Export bowl with four painted sides with custom made stand. This shape is very unusual and rare in Canton ware . The workmanship is the finest. Bought in London many years ago. Size: Bowl, H. 10.5cm. W. 23.9 x 23.9cm. H. with stand. 24cm. Condition: Perfect.

This form of jug called a monk's cap is of Tibetan origin. The model was adopted in China from the beginning of the 15th century and very appreciated. Monks' cap jugs were made of porcelain. They are always of good quality. The example presented here is made of thick bronze (yellow copper alloy). I don't think it's cast but rather hammered bronze.The border of the top in strong relief would indicate a cast bronze. But it is not certain.
