A cottonwood Hopi Mudhead Kachina doll circa 1900. Depicting Koyemsi, the Mudhead Clown, of slightly attenuated form, arms hugging the torso, the case mask decorated with three circular attachments, representing gourds; painted with red, black and brown pigments. Description by Colton, 1949, p.59: "Koyemsi is the most common Hopi clown. He appears in Mixed Kachina Dances and sometimes a group of Koyemsi appear in a dance of their own, At First Mesa they are said to sing Zuni songs." 8 1/2" tall.

A Very Fine/Rare/Large Underglaze Iron-Brown Decorated Jar-17/18th century. Korea, Joseon period, 17th - 18th Century, A quite large abacus shaped jar rising from the ring foot to the extended sides and ending above the slanted shoulder in a short, decorated with abstract floral spray in underglaze iron-brown on opposite sides of the vessel, the body covered with a greyish white glaze overall, burnt slightly brown and orange in the firing. It is in very fine condition without any repair ...

This is an antique Chinese set of carved bone dominoes, complete with dice and original wooden box. Carved by hand sometime in the Qing dynasty, the 32 dominos vary abit in shape, size and thickness and the bone dice are a bit off cube.

The box is just under 5 inches x 2.5 inches x 1.5 inches.

Found in the Philippines. Featuring a circular body, resting on a short straight foot and is decorated with a carved central floral spray, adorned with combed lines. Antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of keyaki (elm) wood burl with heavy iron hardware. The upper most portion of the chest has a large full width drawer above a compartment with sliding panels. The middle of the tansu has a horizontal row of three small drawers. The bottom portion of the tansu has a series of three drawers stacked in a vertical row and held in place with a locking bar...

This civil official's rank badge is embroidered on silk with silk and metallic wrapped silk threads, and has a medium blue woven silk backing. There is splitting to the silk background and loose metallic threads, as well as some losses to the silk backing.

This pair of antique Miao boots were made by a young woman from Song Tao to be worn for festivals. The thick sole has iron hob nails to make walking easier on the hills and terraces. The vamp is made from cotton fabric and is heavily embroidered with cottton thread using satin and chain stitch techniques. The upper part of the boot is also made of cotton fabric.

This is a small Ming dynasty moulded sancai funerary covered box with ribbed sides. On top of the covered box, it has a moulded design of the plum blossom or meiping plant with flowers. It has a low footrim with a mildly recessed base. It also has a square seal mark which reads as "Da Ming Nian Zhao" from left to right instead of the usual right to left.

As a funerary object, abrasion, minor chips(see picture no.5) and minor production flaws can be expected...

Here is another spectacular Bronze Guanyin from our collection. After we have already sold each of our bigger statues, we like to offer you now our biggest dating to the 18th cent. Qing period - A 67 cm (26,5'') high antique Bronze Statue of a beautiful Guanyin.

The guan yin is wearing a long robe, the surface shows a great patina and on the back you find the mark 'Da Qing Kang Xi Nian Zhi'.

This type of menpo would have fitted a formal and archaic style gosuku with silk lacing and large sode style of the Heian period. The menpo is lacquered in a dark brownish black with stylized wrinkles. The ears are pierced with plum blossom configuration, turned strap holders, and a vent hole. The nose plate is well rendered with horse hair mustache and hook-holes insertion. The interior of the mask is lacquered in red...

19th century wooden netsuke of a hunter with a flintlock rifle trapped by an enormous scrotum of a badger. Uncommon topic in netsuke, excellent crisp carving, superb faces - distressed one of the hunter and cold smiling one of the badger, wonderful hairwork, great detailing of the hands of the hunter and veins on the scrotum, beautiful patina. Signed JURAKU on the foot of the hunter - the artist is listed in NETSUKE by Neil Davey (p. 477, number 962). Length 1 1/2 inches.
