From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a very high quality 19th century ginger jar done in the "1000 Antiques" design against a "cracked ice" ground, either Tongzhi (1862-1874) or Guangxu Period (1875-1908). One could be forgiven for thinking this piece is Kangxi (1662-1722) given the high quality of the paste, the high quality of the underglaze cobalt blue, and the proficiency of the painting. Indeed, if Kangxi, it should be two-three times our price...

Classic semi antique Laotian textile from the Tai Daeng ethnic group. This was acquired in 1991, just when Lao was opening itself for tourism and was about 30 years old at the time so this would date pre Vietnam War era. It is mounted onto a commercial Chinese chintz cloth border (looks original), made from all hand spun cotton and silk thread in the embroidery (except for the black pattern). There is one small repair noted in enlargements...

Whimsical antique Japanese netsuke of two octopi in embrace, carved in beautiful cherry amber with lots of little details. The Japanese would wear small stacked containers called inro from their belts or sash. Inro boxes were held together by a long cord running down its sides that looped at the top, held together by a netsuke bead and an ojime bead. The cord would run through the two holes featured on this netsuke. 19th century Size: 1.5" tall x 1.5" wide

A nicely carved jade pendant in the shape of a bamboo surrounded by leaves in two colors. Bamboo is a Chinese symbol for longevity because of its durability, strength, flexibility and resilience. It survives in the harshest conditions. Size: H. 6 cm. W. 4.2 cm. Condition: No repairs.

A lovely six inch koro decorated in the 10,000 flower design against a pale grey blue ground, well executed and with only minimal pitting.

Kajibanten (fireman's jacket) with sashiko, made of cotton. It has hand-drawn "shachi" motif, which is a mythical carp with the head of a lion and the body of a fish and it is an auspicious protecter. Chinese archaic pottery figure of a calling camel on a solid base, made from red clay. The statue has a great, incredibly detailed form. The inside body of the camel is hollow and within it you can see finger imprints from the original artist. In wonderful, original condition. Tang Dynasty dates from AD 618-907. Size: 22" H

Very large Burmese hammered repousse copper-brass-bronze alloy bowl, with traces of silver, decorated with 3 relief panels depicting flowers and the engraving "Thiri Mingalar Monastery" as well as stylized scroll foliage. Such bowls were primarily used in Buddhist ceremonies. 19th Century. Nice natural aged patina. Good condition. Size: H. 16 cm. x 30 cm. diameter at center (H. 6.5" x 12" diameter).

This is mikuni-sashiko Indigo dye cotton noragi (Work clothes)textile of the Meiji era(1868-1912). It is cotton and sashiko stitch of very beautiful indigo dyeing. I can enjoy it with the both sides. It is very rare textile. I recommend it to collection of you. This is textile made in Fukui region. All this sashiko stitches are made by hand. It does not have a stain and damage. This antique Chinese small wooden tobacco container would have been looped on a belt. It is probably ethnic minority, and hand carved by its intended user. Such folk art artifacts are now rare and hard to find on the market.

This mid or late 19th century Chinese statue is 15 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. The statue presents a legendary Chinese character who is a member of the eight immortals. According to legend, one day he told his disciple that his spirit was going to travel far away. He asked the young man to watch his body for seven days while he was away. If he did not come back after the seventh day, the young man must burn his body...

This is a great example of Japanese Satsuma artistry. This bowl was made and signed by Hankinzan. The bowl measures 5 inches across. It is an exceptional piece with extremely fine work. There are hundreds of detailed birds all with overglaze enamels. I also believe it was made with the thicker mercury fired gold. While this bowl looks nearly perfect, it has about a 1 inch line that goes part way down one side that is very hard to see without magnification...

Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.

Rare Chinese Neolithic Pottery Jar - Banshan / Majiayao Culture (c. 2600 - 2300 BC)

This very rare and unusual pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago by peoples of the Majiayao Culture, most likely during the Banshan phase (c. 2600 - 2300 BC). It is made from quite a coarse pottery and fairly "crudely" made. It is of a most unusual form with the small loop handle at its top and the wide spout.

A very beautiful matching pair of Maya Jade ear ornaments from the classic period CA 500 AD to 800 AD. Both measuring 3 1/2" by 3 1/4".The form is Semi round having a large central opening and wide flare. Both have double perforations for attachment. A small amount of red pigment on each. One repaired from two original pieces, along with a few minor rim chips otherwise both are intact

A kartika referred to in Tibetan as a "trigug" or "drigug" is a small crescent-shaped handheld ritual flaying knife, used in the tantric ceremonies of Vajrayana Buddhism. A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class...

Found in the Philippines. These identical jars feature a translucent green Qingbai-type glaze that pools on its carved lines. Its moulded structural form is covered by a roof tiled lid. This is a very rare and wonderful Japanese Cloisonne box. There are a wide variety of enamel colors and designs making this a very unique piece. The designs, mottled and translucent enamel colors strongly suggest that Honda is the artist. The rims are also Bronze and appear to have never been silver plated. Condition is excellent. There is minor scuffing to the bottom corners. The box measures 5 1/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches and is 2 1/4 tall
