Very old anthropomorphic statue of a deity protecting a household, staying on a circular base, with an expressive face and hands in praying posture. Eroded wood, age patina. Nepal, 19th century. An antique Japanese Katana Tansu (sword chest) made entirely of Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand made iron fittings including the Hirute drawer handles. 19th century marine material ball shaped ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in the round with a praying mantis crouching among leaves and plants including a chrysanthemum and several hozuki (Chinese lantern fruit), central hole with terminals surrounded by carved florets. A beautiful Tang Dynasty wine ewer with a very fine brown glaze measuring 5 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide

his is a doll quilt with knotted and tied quilting with cotton filling. It is a warm brown and tan color. It has a stain on the under side that looks like rust. It has no rips or tears. It is 15" by 17" and is circa 1890-1900.

Tranquil scene of a deer on a precarious cliff. From the master shiden school, shou yuan'nan Gu Hei- Old mortar calligraphy translation "one hundred blessings" with a cartouche. Picture measures 62.5" high by 33.5" wide. Overall it measures 38 6/8" wide by 88" long. Ink and mineral colors on paper.

Chinese antique wool Pau Tau rug with woven together in a whimsical pictorial composition of a flying crane, deer, and an exaggerated large peony. The Peony is shy and is hiding amongst the craggily rock formation, reminiscent of a Taihu stone. Admits the red sun and swirling clouds, the pine tree stands along, swaying towards the flying crane which is about to land as the prancing deer is on a field of flowers. The overall ground field is blue which graduates from pale blue to indigo.

Bato Kannon Ca. 1870 (horse-headed Kannon, also called Mezu Kannon), hayagriiva in Sanskrit, is one shape of Bosatsu (Bodhisattva) worshipped in Buddhism. It is one of the transformations of Kannon Bosatsu (Kannon Bodhisattva) and is also included in Roku Kannon (six deities of mercy). It has fierce expression, which is rare for Kannon. The exterior with a light Café-au-lait variation of the brown “Batavia” glaze (Batavia being the Dutch name for the VOC shipping harbour, today's Jakarta). This is a large, deeply molded sculpture which would have been used to make appliques for attachment to larger vessels. The piece is 4-5/8" in length and its interior depth is more than 1". It depicts a lotus pod and comes with a rubberized impression. A beautiful piece of sculpture in its own right.
