A massive and solid bronze axe in the battleaxe form with a wide blade, Dong Son Culture, Annam region of present day Vietnam, 4th.-1st. cent. BC.

A nicely executed thinbutted Danish Neolithic silex axe, dating to mid-late 4th mill. BC.

Partly polished axe with nice proprotions and clear 'seams' along the edges. Very nice workmanship.

Thinbutted axes were developed to help neolithic people to clear the forest to prepare the land for farming. The largest specimens - up to 40 cm - were put down in marches as offers.

Here's a pair of Thinbutted Danish Neolithic Axes dating to late 4th mill. BC.

Thinbutted axes were the preferred tool for clearing land, as the Neolithic civilisation came in the need of fields for cultivation.

Both axes in this pair are nice specimens from this development, and have probably contributed to gaining new ground for early Danish agriculture.

During this period the thickbutted axe became a widely spread supplement to the thinbutted axe in the toolbox of Neolithic Man.

A scarce specimen of a Danish Neolithic Axe with a pointed neck, dating to 3500-2500 BC.

This type of axe were one of the early developments from the from the primitive core axes of the hunters and gatherers. It is found alongside the thinbutted axes, and most finds are in the eastern parts of Denmark.

This specimen is unpolished, could be an unfinished 'prework'.

A fine stamp seal of calcified (or burnt?) calchedony, Neo-Babynian, c. 8th-7th. cent. BC.

Attractive trapezoid style seal. These seals are usually carved with Marduk at the alter, but this has a rare depiction of a sword, rhomboid symbol (perhaps and eye) and the Sun and Moon for the two major Babylonian deities of Marduk and Sin. A rare depiction. Size: 22 mm. tall and 20 mm wide.

A large round stamp seal with a rare depiction engraved in the base, Mesopotamian 4th.-3rd. mill. BC.

A really nice set of Danish Neolithic weapons, incl. a huge lancet dagger and a pophyre battle-axe, mid-late 3rd. mill. BC.

Both pieces are housed together in a costum oak box with beige skin inside.

A large and well-preserved tanged bronze sword, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

The style with the thick mid-rib and two rivets in the corner of the blade is known from the Assyrian period, and the present specimen provincially made around the lands of the Caspian Sea. On this specimen one rivet is still remaining. Very attractive and impressive!

Size: 45 cm.

Condition: Choice - very fine green patina and good metal quality - very few losses and roghness to the edge.
