Circa 1820, Chinese Export blue and white porcelain helmet creamer. Featuring a hand painted continuous scene of a Chinese village landscape with boats on water and intricate borders, it is in excellent antique condition, showing only a little wear to the gold trim at the rim and top of handle. Measures: 5 inches high, 3.25" wide, 5" long.

19th century Chinese scholar’s bronze seal, its top in a form of a sage riding on the back of a qilin. According to Chinese mythology qilin appears before the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler. The impression of the seal is shown on the first photo (image is flipped left to right to present the image as it will print on paper). Nicely cast and finished, beautiful patina, has good presence. Height 1.67 inches, base 1.27 x 1.16 inches.

Rare Chinese Neolithic Pottery Jar - Banshan / Majiayao Culture (c. 2600 - 2300 BC)

This very rare and unusual pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago by peoples of the Majiayao Culture, most likely during the Banshan phase (c. 2600 - 2300 BC). It is made from quite a coarse pottery and fairly "crudely" made. It is of a most unusual form with the small loop handle at its top and the wide spout.

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese export filigree bar pin fashioned from three hardstone discs, two of jade and one carnelian, mounted in delicate, decorative openwork made from thin twisted wire. Most likely dating to the Victorian era (1837 – 1901) when such pins were fashionably worn at the neck fastening two collars, the pin is in very good condition with no chips to the stones and slight wear to the wirework. DIMENSIONS: 3 ¾” long (9.5 cm) x 1 3/8” wide (3.5 cm).

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This pottery horse was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It stands upright with its head turned very slightly to its left. It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is particularly "heavily-potted". Looking inside the body shows it was made in a two-piece mould. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of a creamy-white pigment with details picked out in red and black pigments...

In ancient China, the tortoise and the snake were thought to be spiritual creatures symbolizing longevity. Both the front and back have been finely pressed in raised relief with gilt accents. A bride of the Yi Chinese Ethnic Minority in Yunnan Province, would have worn the "cock" hat for her wedding day. The hat is made using layers of cotton fabric with a stiffiner between the layers to maintain the shape. Using colorful cotton thread, hat was extravagantly hand embroidered. A few traditional silver ornaments including the bubble, flower and butterfly were added.

Now, it is the very lucky Yi girl who can use her great grandmother's bridal hat for her own wedding...

Clearly made by an adoring grandmother, this antique Dong Minority hat is covered with a variety of ornate embroidery stitches including both wrapped thread and couching techniques. The hat is topped with silver half beads representing bubbles and a large top knot.. It is a bid dirty which would be expected in a childs hat of this age and use.

This absolutely charming pair of baby booties is from the late Qing dynasty. They are made of silk satin ivory colored fabric and have a large satin stitched butterfly on each side. The front of the booties have an appliqued butterfly with tassles and pompoms. They are in pristine condition with the exception of the one missing pompom on one bootie.
