Tanomura Chokunyu (1814-1907) was a Japanese nanga(literati) artist. He learnt painting under Tanomura Chikuden, and for his rare talent, he was later adapted as a son...

An expressive small figure of the long-haired Gama Sennin dressed in a leaf apron, standing on a plinth, with a small toad. Carved from boxwood, the eyes of the immortal are inset in glass. Unsigned. Condition: back with a large and few smaller age cracks (top of the head, arm sleeve), few tiny rim chips. Dimension: c. 15.5 cm high.

This is Tsutsugaki firefighter coat of Edo era (1800-1860). This is cotton Hanten spun by hand of thick indigo dyeing. It is a design very impressive beautifully. Like F1 ~ F5, this has the part that some indigo blue changed. Both cuffs have damage such as F6. 108cm x 123cm (42.5 "x 48.4")

A Japanese "arrow toss" game vase made of copper and decorated with polychrome enamels, the rims and wires are gilt. Showing antiques and auspicious symbols on a white ground, the base with "fuku" mark. The "arrow-toss" game originated from China and was at the beginning very popular with the aristocrats and survived as a pastime well into the Edo period. From an old Swiss private collection. Condition: few traces of usage, the mouth rim is inside a bit bent (see pict. 12)...

A Japanese sterling silver vase with engraved and embossed decoration of two roses. Base with "jungin" mark, the side with engraved signature. On a pierced Chinese wooden stand. Condition: the visible side fine, but the reverse with several dents. Dimension: vase 19.4 cm high, height with stand: 23.3 cm, weight: 376 g.

A rare bamboo chado tea caddy for powdered green tea, the interior covered with black lacquer. The exterior carved with the four gentlemen of winter: plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and orchid. Subtly embellished with silver wire. Condition: lower part with a crack, silver wire partially lost, a bit dusty, traces of age. Dimension: height: c. 6.3 cm, diameter: c. 5.7 cm.

Well defined bronze elephant koro incense burner, C.1920. 18cm tall by 15cm wide. Very good condition.

This is shirushi-Hanten which a firefighter wore. A member of Nu-gumi wore this. The letter of the collar is written as Nu-gumi. The inside is good blue-colored cotton of the natural indigo plant. It is the good cotton that both sides were spun by hand. The small hole such as the image is it in three places and thin stain two places. The others are complete. Size 107cm x 120cm (42.1 "x 47.2")

This is Japanese Indigo dye Stripe and zanshi weave futon Cover from the Edo era to the Meiji era(1800-1880). This material is cotton. It is made of hand-spun and hand-woven and natural indigo dyed cotton. It was made all by hand. It does not have a stain and damage and is in a very good state. size:148cm x 100cm (58.3" x 39.4")

A high quality cloisonne vase dating from the Meiji period. Design of ho-o birds among clouds on a green speckled ground. The shoulder with flowers on a black spiral ground. Bottom, rim and wires are gilt. With wood stand. Condition: rim with a small dent (see picture No. 6). Small area with only under the magnifying glass visible imperfections. Dimension: 12.1 cm high. This is a Japanese antique indigo dye cotton Excellent Boro noragi of patched and sashiko stitch Meiji (1868-1912). It was repaired many times, and the boro rag that were used became wonderful folk art by themselves. The patchwork & sashiko stitch of the indigo dye cotton for the repaired is very beautiful. An Unusual Japanese Imari Ship Bowl. Decorated in the centre and with a trading vessel below panels of Dragons and Ho Ho Birds. The exterior with the same vessel between European figures. 19thc. Diameter: 24.5 cm. condition: shallow chip to exterior of the foot, and some flakes to the red enamel.
