1890s - 1910s (late Meiji - early Taisho) Japanese inkstone in simple rectangular shape with carved keyfret border and central grinding area. Used for grinding of an inkstick on the surface of the stone. Akama stone of shiunseki type with characteristic reddish brown color - Akama inkstones are quite famous, and come from the Yamaguchi Prefecture. Beautiful patina, traces of ink on the grinding surface, comes with fitted wooden cover. Very nice object for scholars table, in excellent condition...

Mingei jizai with Keyaki wood carved folding fan, hard-wrought iron chain, and a clover ring and hook. Unusual small size making for a charming sculptural item. Originally used to hold and suspend tetsubin (tea pot) over coals for heating.

A Japanese white glazed studio porcelain model of a water buffalo. Hirado type though the eyes are not left unglazed to the biscuit as is typical. Holding sculpted form and details well, the biscuit base smooth to the touch and bearing an imprint from the fabric it sat upon. Except for a clean break to one horn, in otherwise good condiiton. A line of separation of the glaze under the buffalo's neck due to "crawling" in the kiln. Length, about 14 inches horn tip to tail...

A miniature vessel in the shape of a Japanese water bucket. Earthenware finely decorated in enamels and gold with iris flowers. Base signed below the Kinkozan Kyoto paper label next to an old price label. Condition: fine. Dimension: 6.5 cm high, weight: 32 g.

It is 13.75 inches (35 cm) long by 10.75 inches (27.2 cm) wide. The Photo is 10.25 inches (26.7 cm) long by 8 inches (20.2 cm) wide. It is 11 Lb.

The covers have peeling of lacquer, missing pieces of ivory inlay and separated from the book. One photo has been cut in half. One photo has severe foxing...

Antique Japanese imari vase with a rounded middle and fluting mouth and foot. Two small grey and yellow fu dogs serve as handles. The body of the vase has bright yellow enamel background with scrolling vines, and images of fu dogs playing with each other. The bottom of the vase is marked in red. Japanese Satsuma Phoenix Vase by Kinkozan V, an important and renowned Satsuma artist. It features stylized figures and flowers in under glaze red, yellow, green and blue on a rich black ground. This kind of design was very influential on Art Deco. 9 inches, 23 cm.
