Antique Japanese Ko Tansu made from a deep red chestnut wood (Kuri), with a black lacquered front frame, three large drawers with iron hirute handles mounted on carved backplates and a large center iron lockplate with pierced heart designs, and two small side drawers with kan (ring) pulls on flower shaped backplates.

Antique Japanese two section tansu made from sugi (cedar) wood in original red lacquer finish, with large round locks incised with cherry blossom mon on its drawers and warabite handles mounted on ornate back plating also with a cherry blossom motif. This is a wonderful little censer from one of the great Meiji era satsuma artists. This beautiful piece glows with quality and is like looking at a fine jewel. Signed Shizan on the underside and the remains of an import sticker can still be seen. Condition is excellent. It measures 3 tall and is 3 1/4 wide.

Antique Japanese pair of hanging lotus candle holders, each made of bronze and attached in two sections. The upper section is a large inverted lotus leaf with smaller leaves and lotus buds around it's base. From out of the large lotus leaf is a hook. The lower section attaches to the hook with a ring. The candle itself would sit on the small lotus flower platform with smaller leaves and flowers.

A dark blue hemp fabric forms the base of these kote sleeve guards. The upper area is covered in iron chain mail with pair of double gourd plates, crest mon, gilt iron plates, throughout the kote. The shoulder edge has three hinge plates to fashion to the Do armor. Unusually mounted on a custom black iron stand.

Tall Japanese Sumida Gawa tankard with 6 mugs. All have the same potter's mark. Mugs measure 5" high, Tankard is 9.5" high. All are in very good condition except for a missing piece from the scroll on one mug, and broken thumb on another. Dates early 20th century.

This tall and lovely Hagi chawan rests firmly on a wari kodai or “split foot” pedestal that is unglazed—displaying the coarse rich clay. The crackled milky glaze covers the curves and contours of the bowl, contrasting dramatically between the foot and the clay body. Hagi-ware such as this is part of a tradition stretching back over 400 years and is a high-fired stoneware type of pottery...

Antique Japanese long silk altar cloth embroidered with three phoenix birds, also called Hou-ou birds. The mythical birds represents fire, sun, justice, obedience, fidelity, and the southern constellations. The phoenix also symbolizes the imperial household, specifically the empress. The embroiderer expresses flowing movement in in the wings and feathers of the great birds.
