Lovely and rich blue and white, sometsuke plate set by Juyo Mukei Bunkazai; Kondo Yuzo. This sometsuke set is made of porcelain with underglaze gosu blue, each plate is decorated with a kaki-zu, persimmon design and is signed on the reverse.

Living National Treasure,Kondo Yuzo was arguably, the one of the finest sometsuke artists of the 20th century. He is most readily identified with his persimmon design, akin the Hamada Shoji and his sugercane motif.

These cups were made by Moustiers France for Hermes, in their famous faience ware. This redware pottery is heavier than the Limoges porcelain in which this pattern is usually found. The Moustiers ware is less common as fewer pieces were made due their being handmade, with a raised design rather than the flat design on the Limoges.

This classical ,generous and inviting teabowl chawan is by legendary Hagi master potter; Yoshiga Taibi (1915-1991). The sumptuous form is highlighted with a thin ash glaze over the rich hagi clay and crackled slip with tones running from Hagi creamy pink to lavender with the gritty clay visually punctuating the foot/kodai. This is a bowl of profound subtleties and though it may sound cliché, this chawan looks many times better in person than my poor photography can show.
