An extremely well fired Iga chawan by Shigaraki and Iga potter; Furutani Kazuya. This medieval styled chawan has a pleasant cylindrical form with areas of running ash, dusted ash and hi-iro along with clamshell impressions from where the bowl rested while being fired. The interior is coated in a rich olive toned ash and a thick pool of ash which built up due to the angle at which the chawan was placed in the kiln.
