Intriguing chawan in the Mino tradition with thick trails of a feldspar Shino glaze over a rich temmoku glaze. This novel approach was created by Mino prefecture potter, Shomura Shogo and was most likely made in the 1980's.

This chawan is in great condition, measures 5" x 3" and comes with its original signed box.

Robust Shino vase of squared form with areas of poured underglaze iron slip creating areas of Aka-Shino (iron red) and Muji-Shino (white)across the piece. This vase was made by the well respected and exhibited Kato Shuntei (1927-1995) who was a true Mino traditional potter.

A deep bowl pelted with bluish-green salt glaze revealing patches of combed white by Hamada Shoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ai-Shioyu Kushime Chawan.
