This piece is almost identical to the work submitted by the artist to the 7th Nihon Dento Kogei Ten in 1983 (featured as item number 116 in the catalog for that year) and indeed, shares the title Hi-iro In-mon Tsubo (Flame-Colored Stamp-Patterned Tsubo). Elegant Irabo glazed chawan by Takatori legend, Miraku Kamei. This chawan has a Chinese influenced form while being made and glazed in the Takatori style. The flowing irabo ash glaze contrasts nicely against the reddish takatori fine clay.

This chawan is in excellent, unused condition, measures 5" x 2.8" and comes complete with its original, signed box.

A shiny golden Kyo-yaki tea bowl in mint condition made by the great Kyo artist Eika Miyaji 25 years ago. Red and white plum trees are hand painted on the body. This is definitely the most beautiful work of Eika Miyaji we have ever seen.

Hand carved calligraphic wood panel by Tsukigata Nahiko, the originator of Oni-Shino pottery. Measuring 79 x 36.5cm and 86.65cm at its widest, this panel has the three kanji carved in high relief, as is the signature with texture forming the surround. The kanji read to the best that I understand, "A Sliver (of the) Moon", a rather poetic sentiment. Evocative blue decorated henko bottle vase with fluid brush decoration and sgrafitto decoration prominently signed; SEIRAN. The cobalt decoration sits on an almost ash style glaze with spots of blushed areas, similar to Hagi pottery. I have not been able to find out anything about the potter, but the brushwork and use of space suggests a full time potter, used to working in this particular style.

This henko is in perfect condition with its original signed box and measures 8" X 8.5" x 6".

Wonderful and intricate ash glazed plate by Ningen Kokuho (Juyo Mukei Bunkazai) Shimaoka Tatsuzo. This large plate, hachi, is absolutely genuine and has all of the characteristics of Shimaoka, from clay, glaze and foot (kodai). This plate measures 12.25” X 2.25. The intricate design is first hand carved and then inlaid with white slip, which is later scrapped off to reveal the pattern.
