Miniature Bronze Buddhist Monk holding alms bowl, 19th Century, mounted on wooden base, size: H. 6cm x 2cm x 0.5cm
A framed PAIR of framed color prints, one (Place de la Concorde, central Paris) 8 3/4" by 12 1/2" (13 1/2" by 17" framed, no glass), the other (Notre Dame and bookstalls along the Seine) 8 1/2" by 12" (15" by 18" framed). Each is pencil numbered at lower left out of editions of 500, and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991)...
A circa late 1800's or circa 1900 antique painting on gray art board of a lake at sunset, a steep outcropping with ruins at left and a small boat completing the composition, unsigned, by an amateur hand, 13 1/2" by 8 3/4" as framed. The work is in an ornate turn of the century frame with a few missing chips that could be easily painted over in gold. What more is there to say---it is a classic little painting of its era, perfect for a small or narrow wall.
Watercolor on paper painting of a red barn in a country landscape, a high western mountain in the left background, signed at lower left "Elizabeth Quiroga". The painting measures 12 1/4" by 15 1/4" in its present wood frame. The artist seems to have had a good command of the medium. Condition is excellent. There is a pencil sketch of a barn on the reverse side of the paper. Condition is excellent. Allow for reflections in a few images.
A contemporary watercolor painting of a sailboat, signed at lower right by artist "Seargeant". Measurements are 12" by 10" inside the mat and 19 1/2" by 17 1/2" as nicely framed. Very clean overall, just a very little few specks of soiling on the inside of the non-glare glass, at upper corner. The artist had a good understanding of the wet-on-wet technique, as he used it to advantage in the gray, threatening sky and in the water.
Original pencil figural drawing, 15" by 9" plus a gray mat, unframed, signed at lower right "K. Delaney" and dated there 1979. I do not know who the artist might have been but he or she certainly had a talent as a draftsperson. The condition is generally good save for modest paper browning and there is tape residue on the reverse from clumsy attachment to the mat. Fit a frame on this and you'll have a pleasant, nicely executed drawing.
This is a pair of engravings from Peterson's Magazine, 1877 and 1882, both nicely hand colored. Size as framed 18" by 20". The prints, titled "Les Modes Parisiennes" are very clean inside the mats. There are vertical central creases as no doubt issued. These would make for a pleasing addition to a bedroom or lady's feminine dressing area. Allow for reflections in some images.
Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer Collotype hand signed limited edition 1917 Les mères pendant la guerre sight 9.5" by 13.5" with original matt board
Unframed lithograph of the famous "Singing Tower" (Bok Tower) in Lake Wales, central Florida, signed in pencil at lower right margin by listed Kentucky artist CHARLES WINSTON HABERER (1905-1958). A leading Kentucky etcher and engraver, C. Winston Haberer studied printmaking techniques under Sudduth Goff, in Louisville, and at the Chicago Art Institute...
Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer Collotype hand signed limited edition 1917 Les mères pendant la guerre sight 9.5" by 13.5" with original matt board
A colorful, vintage print by listed artist, Salvatore Petruolo. The original gilt frame (with glass) shows signs of wear and chipping. The label on the back reads "R.H.White & Co. Boston ...)The frame is 16" x 22" ~ print 10" x 16". Not examined out of frame.
Gouache on paper or paper on board, 6 1/8" by 7 3/8" and 1 3/8" frame, (14" by 15" overall as framed), signed at lower left "Bud" DUNCAN, no date but likely executed circa 1940. This is skillfully executed, in high key colors of pink, yellow, and violet shades. There are some condition issues; a 1" hairline diagonal surface abrasion in sky at center, and several punctures/pressure cracks from the reverse through to the drawing at left and top, and in the busy sage clumps at right ...
Vintage poster "Presence des Maitres", 1967, published by the Swiss gallery Galerie Beyeler to publicize their exhibition of works by the likes of Chagall, Klee, Giacometti, Cezanne, Monet, Dufy, Rouault, Mondrian, Picasso, Braque and Bonnard. The unframed piece measures 33" by 20" in simple black frame (NO GLASS). The poster shows definite evidence of age, with blotchy old brownish discolorations/staining and some light abrasions at lower right...
A nicely worked pastel drawing of cypress trees in a swamp landscape, Spanish Moss hanging down gracefully, the work signed at lower right "Sr. M. Lucy", 8" by 6" as framed, circa 1950. This is a difficult subject to draw well but the artist accomplished the chore with skill. Condition is excellent. I do not see an obvious listed artist with whom to link this. Framing is simple, work will need to be re-matted/sealed as it is currently loose under the glass.
Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer Collotype hand signed limited edition 1917 Les mères pendant la guerre sight 9.5" by 13.5" with original matt board
This is a nicely executed watercolor featuring a red barn and small house apparently in autumn, signed at lower right and dated there 1973 by contemporary artist JOHN S. McFEDRIES. I do not see a listing for the artist but some other works by him can be viewed on the net (and I have a New Mexico watercolor by him in my shop). The painting measures 16" by 22 1/2" inside the mat and (25" by 31 1/2" framed). The painting is in excellent, fresh condition but there is no glass...
This is an original Currier and Ives lithograph print, frame opening 10" by 8" (total frame 14 1/2" by 12 1/2"), titled "Little Snowbird", from the 1860's, in a nineteenth century typical American walnut frame with gilt fillet. Unfortunately, this very old print has been damaged over the years, and it is now severely torn at top. The title portion and "Currier and Ives" are folded under, as are side portions. Therefore, the principal value of this item is the frame, and the print is a bonus...
A detailed gouache painting of two female and one male figure in a green landscape with trees and flowers, 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (13 1/2" by 11 1/2" in gold framing), painted in the centuries-old traditional style of the Indo-Persian School, but contemporary. The condition is excellent and this is a very decorative piece. The amount of work involved to create such a detailed image is stupendous---though the market undervalues the handiwork.
