A charming pair of portraits of a brother and sister, painted in watercolor on natural material.

The condition of both paintings is excellent, with no issues. The gold case is also without problems. Sight size is 2 1/8" by 1 3/4", and the overall size is 2 3/8" by 1 7/8".

Diana Leaving the Bath (Diane Sortant du Bain), after Francois Boucher (French, 1703-1770). Oil on canvas. 2nd half 19th century. Offered in an antique tin over wood frame. This is an unsigned 19th century copy of the Francois Boucher original that was acquired by The Louvre, in Paris, in 1852. This copy was probably created within twenty-five years after Boucher painted his original.

Very RARE Engraving of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. Bust length portrait facing left, wearing armor and the badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece. The portrait sits within an oval frame bearing the Latin inscription 'IMP. CAES. CAROLVS V. AVG.' The frame has been set into an alcove featuring fluted Doric columns, an eagle, swags of fruit and allegorical female figures, such as those of Germany and Africa at the bottom of the plate. Indonesian drawing of three seated figures conversing at a marketplace, three white chickens offered up for sale, painted circa late 1950's or early 1960's I believe, apparently unsigned, 12" by 16 1/4" inside the mat, 17" by 21 1/4" as framed. There is an old Rotterdam, Netherlands framer's sticker on the reverse. The art somewhat reminds of the work of the important Dutch/Indonesian master artist Rudolf Bonnet (1895-1978) but I do not believe the work by him...

Late 19th century American watercolor painting of sheep in a country landscape with trees, 12" by 24 1/2" (21" by 33 1/2" framed), signed at lower right with initials "S.M.G.". The artist might be hard to identify but the work resembles watercolors by such artists as Carl Weber (see example in my shop). The artist has used a combination of watercolor and white gouache. Condition is excellent. The gold frame has age and there are some missing pieces.

An example of the 1957 poster of a seated nude, titled "Andre Derain Dessins", by Galerie Maeght. The lithograph is framed in a silver metal frame with orange backdrop. Measurements are 25 3/4" by 18 3/4" (30 1/2" by 24 1/4" as framed). Derain was a major French artist in the first half of the twentieth century, renowned early on for his Fauvist works and later for a wealth of works, both drawings and paintings, many of which depicted the female nude.
