Sometimes he is listed as Samuel JAMES Clark--there appears to be some confusion in the auction record...

Oil on canvas painting of a forest, 18" by 18", in its original oak frame 22" by 22", signed at lower right in red "MOORE" and dated there 1927 or 1924. The painting is a beautiful example of American impressionism of the early 20th century, with some really lovely colors hiding under the grime of nearly 90 years. It also bears a handwritten label with the signature of the artist and the title of the painting (Haiti #7). 7" by 10" painting alone, 12" by 15" in its original frame. Dehn is a major American painter and lithographer. He spent some time in Haiti in 1948 and 1949, and produced a number of works (paintings and lithographs) with Haitian subjects...

A nicely painted portrait of a woman in white, including her lace edged gown, lace edged scarf, and turban. The artist clearly used a monochromatic palette to convey a sense of simplicity and serenity in the sitter, identified on the reverse as a Mrs. Hobbs, or Hobby.

Painted with watercolors on organic wafer, the miniature is housed iin a later case which is gold over silver (vermeil), and has hallmarks indicating it is sterling silver made in London with the maker's mark of JHP...
