For the collector of rare, and desirable early Florida art: a watercolor painting titled in pencil lower left "Old Spanish House/St. Augustine", dated 1881, apparently not signed. The work, paper laid on a board, measures 9 3/4" by 13 3/4". An early 20th century 13 1/2" by 17 1/2" frame (not shown) accompanies the watercolor. On the reverse side of the board in modern times someone wrote "Attributed to William Turner Dannat" but this is highly unlikely...

Oil on canvas laid on board portrait painting of a young girl in a fine blue dress with lacy edge, circa 1875 (possibly, earlier?), apparently unsigned, I feel likely American or perhaps French origin; hard to say. The antique work, 40" by 19 1/2" (45" by 25 1/2" framed) has a folky ambience to it, in the American east coast tradition, but I suppose we should not eliminate its being of European origin...

An impressive watercolor landscape with Italian looking tree at left and extensive vista at right with small figures visible, unsigned on the front, but on the reverse is written in old pencil hand "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" after JMW Turner by J Glen". This is therefore a 19th century work after a famous painting of Turner by that title, first exhibited in 1832...

An impressively large (26" by 39", and 40" by 53" in a fine high quality gilded oak style frame of the period) watercolor landscape of a fascinating primeval, mystical forest interior, signed at lower right by English Victorian period artist JOSHUA RENSHAW, who was active in the 1880's and 1890's, though little biographical information is available...

This is a decorative, peaceful scene of late autumn by a pond or small lake, signed at lower left "Sydney Cooper". Even though the spelling differs ("Sidney"), this could be by or after the well-known English 19th century artist THOMAS SIDNEY COOPER (1803-1902), who was known for his landscapes with farm animals. The painting is unframed and measures 22" by 15 1/2"...

A detailed 19th century American botanical watercolor of white roses and leaves, unsigned, circa 1880, measuring 9 3/4" by 6 1/4" inside the mat, 16 3/4" by 12 1/2" as framed. The piece is in good antique condition with light foxing and uneven toning in the background, commonly seen in works of this age, and perhaps a small tear that has browned at left edge. The work could be on a silky material rather than paper. The detail is impressive. French mat parallel lines at to the appeal...

Watercolor on heavy, pebbled paper, 8 7/8" by 6 1/2" (13 1/4" by 11" in simple framing), signed at lower right and dated there 1830 by the listed French artist JOSEPH FRICERO (1807-1870). The subject is a young, bearded man who appears almost as a religious figure. The drawing is heavily foxed in the field, adding to its antiquity. Some words are written in French on the reverse but the only one I can decipher is "bois" (wood)...

Watercolor on paper, 8 1/2" by 17 1/2" inside the mat (13 1/2" by 22 1/2" in its very nice circa 1920 vintage frame), signed at lower right and inscribed there "Munich" by the well listed American artist CHARLES PAUL GRUPPE (1860-1940). The subject is a creek or small lake or pond at sunset. Born in Ontario, Canada, Gruppe was in Europe by age 20, where he explored France, Germany and Holland. I imagine that this work would date to that early 1880's period when he would have been in Germany...

Watercolor on paper, 5 1/8" by 6 1/4" (13 1/2" by 14 7/8" framed), unsigned, but with a charming old dedication on the reverse side in sepia ink, "Mount Hood/From Vancouver/Eternal Snow/For Mother". This would refer to Vancouver, Washington, across the Columbia River from the mountain. Still adhering to the reverse is printed tape from an old business going by the name Arthur Wayman, of Salem, New York. And this was found in interior Maine...

Many artists in the 19 century travel to exotic Italy in the 1880s and 1870s as the John Singer Sargent. Cormens was one of those Artist. This work is of a Neapolitan beauty wearing gold jewelry possibly by the Italian craftsman Fortunato Pio Castellani. Hugh Cormens was an English artist with ties to the United States and exhibited in Europe

Stephen Parrish, American,1846-1938, "Port of Dieppe", etching, image size 19X23 1/2 inches, 1887, pencil signed.

PAIR of watercolor paintings of southern Italian street scenes, each 14" by 8 1/2" (17" by 11 1/2" as identically framed in early 20th century frames). Both are signed in the lower corners by artist "A. Esposito". I do not see a listing for this name but the artist was talented. Colors are fresh and the scenes are full of interesting details, the people going about their daily business and finding time to gossip...

Chinese Polychrome Wood Masterpiece depicting Guanyin done before 1700 measuring 33”x13”, the figure sitting on a traditional lotus leaf and hands cupped holding a book of enlightenment.

David Y. Cameron 1865-1945 British This is an original pencil signed etching by British artist David Young Cameron. It is titled: A Dutch Farm, art of his North Holland Set. This etching was created and printed in 1892. The image measures 4 5/16 X 8 15/16 inches.Printed on an early laid type sheet with collectors stamp lower corner of the border. This etching came to us with 1/8 inch margins on three sides.

Stephen Parrish, American, 1846-1938, "A Fishing Hamlet- Bay of Fundy, 1882," Etching, image size 5 1/4 x 8 1/8 inches, 1882, plate signed l.l. "S Parrish" and "68" l.r., pencil signed l.r. "Stephen Parrish". This etching was made by Parrish after his painting, "A Fishing Hamlet, Bay of Fundy--Evening, which was shown at the National Academy of Design in March 1882.
