Large oil on canvas, 30" by 40" (34" by 44" framed), unsigned, in its vintage original frame, the subject a desert track through sandy scrub, distant purplish mountains filling the background. Though unsigned, the heavily impastoed, impressionistic style and the scene and colors used are unquestionably the work of JAMES MERRIAM (1880-1951). Merriam was born in Canada and was studying in Detroit, before arriving in Southern California...

A fine Japanese ikebana basket hand-woven from bamboo, cane, cedar root, and urushi lacquer. Signed by artist Jiro Yonezawa (b.1956). Jiro Yonezawa attended the Beppu Vocational Arts Training Center in 1981 and spent a year as an apprentice to Masakazu Ono. Later on, he continued his training at the Oita Prefectural Beppu Industrial Art Research Institute. He lived and worked in the United States from 1989 to 2007...

A fine 19th century miniature version of Gilbert Stuart's "Lansdowne" portrait, the iconic 1796 life size portrait of George Washington. The painting here is done in watercolor and gouache on organic wafer. From its origin until the present day many copies of the portrait have been made, but very few on ivory.

This 3 1/8" by 2 1/2" example is in excellent condition, with no issues. The 11" by 9 3/4" gilt over gesso frame is period and might be original.

She is carrying her sheaf of wheat, although she looks to be more of a child of the privileged rather than a field worker in the tradition of Millet. This is one of Renoir's more popular paintings and it has been reproduced many times...

Tinted photo of the famous, accessible Mendenhall Glacier outside Juneau, Alaska, titled in the image at lower left "Where Ice and Flowers Meet"/Mendenhall Glacier, Alaska/(copyright symbol) 1933 Ordway". The image measures 8 1/2" by 13 1/2", and frame is an inch wide on a side. On reverse is an old sticker from Ordway's Photo Shop, Juneau, Alaska. This came home in the luggage of a tourist, likely around 1950 (found in Connecticut)...

The Old Master Collector who purchased this Portrait does not remember where he bought the Portrait. It was a habit of his to visit Antique and Art Shops around the world during his travels. He especially enjoyed working the shops in England for works of Art...

Something of a frustrating, mystery painting.......oil on canvas, 36" by 23 1/2" (44" by 31 1/2" framed), apparently unsigned, probably American but could also be European, the subject a view onto a small inner courtyard or air shaft, seen through an interior doorway. The work certainly exhibits a modernist touch in some spiky passages in the vegetation, and the choice of red/orange color contrasting with the other more somber tones...
