A floral still life painting on pebbled paper, 14 1/2" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, 19" by 15" as nicely framed (no glass). The work bears signature "Montezin" at lower left but I have researched the piece and it is not by the noted French artist. It is offered solely on its decorative qualities. There are light folds in the paper at top but they are not really a concern.

A striking, Mid Century, seventies oil on canvas abstract painting executed in a denim-like blue, the unusual and complex almost three dimensional-appearing pattern arising out of that base, 30" by 40", unframed, signed lower right "Karl McIntosh". McIntosh (1940-2009) was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away in Ogden, Utah, after a long career in fine art. Brooks Pettus (1918-2003) was a noted western American artist who passed away in Kennewick, Washington, leaving behind a large body of work in watercolor and oil that only recently appeared on the market. Pettus earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, and spent time in Albuquerque and Taos in the early 1940's. New Mexico's artistically inspiring landscape stimulated Pettus' aesthetic sense as it has for countless others...

The piece is by a competent artist who knew how to use color and work the paint. A Standard Brands 39 cent sticker for the canvas/stretcher remains affixed, giving some idea as to the age of the piece, perhaps 1960's or 1970's.
