A nicely worked watercolor featuring the green farmland and coastal mountains of Ireland, signed at lower right by noted, listed Irish artist SAM MCLARNON (1923-2013). The circa 1970's work, 11 1/4" by 18" (17" by 23" in inexpensive modern framing), is in excellent fresh condition, the colors not faded. One can almost smell the oceanic air. There is some record that McLarnon has had auction records in the past as high as $10,000 but I cannot verify that information...

Norman MacLeish was born on August 29, 1890, in Glencoe Illinois, to wealthy parents and became a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and with Pierre Vignal in Paris. Poem 72-47 (road) 32 X 21.5 inches textured paper The sun is the inner part of the kanji for road. This is a very big and stunning Maki print It was done in 1972 at the height of his artistic powers. It depicts the kanji for Road or Way, e.g.the Way of Taoism (Daoism). As if done with a brush, the character whooshes across the well-textured paper. At the middle of the print, Maki has added a White Sun.

This is a beautifully painted work, oil on canvas, measuring 24" by 16" (images show as framed, but frame is now unaccounted for), signed at lower right by noted 20th century Hungarian artist Antal Janczak (1907-1985, also spelled as Janczek). The artist's works sell regularly at auction in Europe. This one probably dates to the 1960's or 1970's...

Sometimes called the Mayor of Tyson Street, Edward "Eddie" Rosenfeld (1906-1983) was a Baltimore based artist, whose works are owned by the JMM, Baltimore Museum of Art, Phillips Collection and American University Gallery (both in Washington, DC). His artistic style has been classified as "expressionistic" and "alive with gutsy realism." Mr. Rosenfeld was called "The Mayor of Tyson Street" because he began the regentrification process in Mt. Vernon in 1945.
