By a National Academician and painting companion of Emil Kosa, here is a large watercolor (21" by 26 1/2"-----28" by 34" as framed) painting of an old style Southern California large wood dwelling structure, signed at lower right by noted artist GEORGE GIBSON (1904-2001). The old house with straggling palm outside certainly resembles some of the picturesque old structures near downtown Los Angeles that were so often the subject of Kosa's works...
A wonderful Italian Baroque oil painting depicting Jesus and the Samaritan Woman. Painted circa 1670 in a beautiful 18th century gold leaf frame.
An unusual family grouping of three miniature portraits on organic wafers. All pieces, clearly done by the same hand (as yet unidentified), have a wonderful "feel" to them and are cleanly executed. The reverend in his black non-liturgical clothing, his wife in her black dress with white lace and cap, and their beautiful daughter, posed beside a tree and attired in a high-waisted gown with a blue ribbon and wearing a tortoiseshell comb in her hair, are set against a blue sky background...

Watercolor on paper of gazelle running in an exotic subtropical landscape, 17 1/2" by 13 1/2" inside the mat (27" by 22" framed), unsigned, but obviously by an artist of talent. The work shows a striking visual energy, the animals frozen in mid-step. This could be a scene painted in Africa, or, it could be from the imagination of the artist. The painting probably dates to the 1930's or 1940's or thereabouts; there is an Art Deco feeling...
A 9" by 13" watercolor painting (15" by 19" framed) of a river bounded by vegetation several ducks swimming picturesquely at lower right, signed at lower left by the noted historian and author Edgar Mayhew Bacon (1855-1935) of Tarrytown, New York. This is an example of Haku Maki’s production of small prints that were known as San Mon Ban. These prints were usually 2in x 2in but there were instances of larger ones. This one measures 6in x 6in. Dan Tretiak writes that Haku Maki began creating San Mon Ban in early 1975, a set of seven volumes of small prints. For some he used themes from the past, others were new themes that he used again and again in succeeding years. A small rendering for collectors to add to their holdings.
Pastel drawing, unframed, 13 1/4" by 10" inside the mat, signed at lower right "Moran", the subject a small boat in a harbor, a headland in the distance crowned by a classic lighthouse. Primary colors are the colors of sunset...reds, oranges, yellow, brown..........the painting was purchased in the San Francisco Bay area but I have no idea as to the origin or identity of the artist. It is a work that shows the artist was skilled with pastel.
